Grand Canyon
One of the world’s greatest wonders, the Grand Canyon is at once familiar and otherworldly. Nothing can prepare you for the sheer beguiling majesty of looking out over its never-ending expanse of coloured rock, some of it dating back two billion years. Unimaginable in its scale, the Grand Canyon defies all superlatives and must be seen to be believed.
Taking a helicopter flight is one of the best ways to appreciate the magnificence of the canyon, with its pine forests and multi-layered rock cut through by the mighty Colorado River. As you soar up from the Southern Rim the sheer size of the canyon becomes clear, unfolding as far as the eye can see in a rippled, concertinaed land of ever-changing colour.
