Andermatt offers excellent conditions throughout a long season. Skiing is well under way by early December and even late November due to high altitude glacial terrain around 4000m. As the season progresses, lower runs offer great conditions too and the skiing below 2000m is appealing when it gets really cold.

Only a hop, skip and a jump and you will arrive at the hotel Chedi! The hotel is perfect for short stays as there are multiple daily flights from London to Zurich and its only 90 minutes in a private transfer from the airport.First impressions are wow. The entrance to the hotel is grand and the atmosphere is set immediately with lots of dimmed lights, fireplaces, and Asian styling. The rooms are seriously big. The smallest room category is 52m2 so if you enjoy space when youre skiing, look no further. Expect all the mod cons, the lighting, temperature and even fireplace in the room is controlled by an ipad. The bath tubs are huge, and the staff leave lots of candles to be lit. Families can enjoy lots of space in the Deluxe Suites and separated sleeping areas. The ski area is small for experienced skiers, but large enough for a short break with more challenging skiing on the Gemmstock mountain. Beginners will enjoy the Sedrun mountain. Whilst Andermatt is charming, it is very quiet as the hotel is more of a destination than the resort itself. If you chose to venture out on an evening there are some nice pizza restaurants, but I would recommend eating in the hotel a couple of evenings. Youre visit to the Chedi just wouldnt be complete without taking full advantage of the huge spa! Although slightly confusing in layout because of its large size, the facilities here mean this hotel would suit none skiers perfectly as you could easily spend a whole day enjoying the spa.

This is a fantastic hotel and really is a case of 'Asia meeting the mountains'. While from the outside the hotel itself blends in with its surroundings, once you walk inside it is obvious that the Chedi may well have a flagship hotel here. They have taken the designs from their hotels in Asia and created something wonderful. The service is immaculate, the facilities are absolutely top notch and we were blown away with the food. The dining choices are numerous: from private dining in cellar-designed dining rooms to one of the four special chef's tables, each one facing a different part of the kitchen offering an amazing array of choice. The centre-piece in the main restaurant is the wonderful cheese cellar - worth a visit alone. And let's not forget the signature Japanese restaurant serving some of the best sushi and sashimi I've ever had. The Spa is fully equipped with a large pool, relaxation area, treatment rooms, and a gym. The boot room is actually an extension of the bar which makes everything so civilised. The rooms all have great views and even the smallest category is big with all the mod cons operated from your own room mini i-pad including a fire at the press of a button! Being Switzerland, the travel is uber-efficient and it really does not take too long to get there from London. Being met at the station by a driver in an Audi Q7 takes some beating!
