The impressive Chalet Shalimar is in the upmarket enclave of Winkelmatten. Infused with exclusivity, this peaceful location is just a 15-minute walk away from the town’s fabulous bars, restaurants and nightlife and just a 10-minute walk from the Matterhorn Express Gondola, carrying guests up to Glacier Paradise.
Featuring traditional alpine chalet design and stylish modern interiors, the top floor of the property is home to the warm and inviting living and dining area. The vaulted ceiling and double height windows flood the space with natural light, providing spectacular views of the Matterhorn. Sliding doors open onto a large balcony, while sumptuous sofas and roaring fires keep the chill at bay during the winter months. There are also two smaller lounge areas and two entertainment rooms, so there’s plenty of space for guests to find a cosy space to relax.
The chalet includes 10 double/twin ensuite bedrooms, six with private balconies and four with direct access to the ground floor terrace. Robes, slippers and premium bathing amenities are included, and guests enjoy daily housekeeping and a mid-week towel change. The chalet can also be booked as two apartments, sleeping 8 and 12 guests, each with its own living space and facilities. The indoor pool and spa are a highlight, with a hammam and sauna for soothing tired muscles and massage room. There is also a ski and boot room with heated boot warmers for winter stays.
To get the most from the trip, the concierge service is available both prior to and during every stay. What’s more, the chalet can be booked on a catered, bed and breakfast, self-catered or accommodation only basis. The catered service includes a daily breakfast, pre-dinner canapés and champagne, four-course evening meals, and early children’s supper for five nights of a weekly stay. Guests also enjoy complimentary house wines, beer, soft drinks, and drinks tray, including two bottles of spirits. During the winter months, weekly guests also benefit from a complimentary ski instructor for the first two days of their stay.
Zermatt is car free and guests staying on a weekly basis enjoy complimentary electric taxi transfer to and from the station. Drivers can park at Tasch before taking the mountain cog railway to the resort.
