Hotel Bo, located a short stroll down colonial streets from the pulsing bohemian heart of Chiapas's San Cristobal de las Casas, is a striking counterpoint to the town’s cobbled streets, balconied buildings and buzzing plazas.
The hotel’s 22 colourful rooms and suites have been designed sensitively in ways that fuse the four elements and incorporate emblems and design motifs of the ancient Maya heritage, and in particular drawing on the rich textile traditions of the surrounding area.
The design is apparent when you enter the open-plan glass lobby, and this extends to the traditional Andalusian interior courtyard, the use of warm wood in the architecture, the beautiful decking, and the earth tones and textures of the walls.
Head chef Ricardo Muñoz Zurita presides over the hotel’s restaurant LUM, which serves up a tantalising array of traditional Mexican dishes.
