Cradle Mountain National Park
Set at the heart of Tasmania, Cradle Mountain National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage listed area of pristine wilderness that spans ancient pine forests, tumbling waterfalls, lofty mountains and azure blue glacial lakes. A walker’s paradise, there are abundant hiking trails that criss-cross the landscape, including the iconic Overland Track and the hike to the summit of Cradle Mountain itself.
Almost equidistant from both Hobart and Launceston, Cradle Mountain National Park lies at the heart of Tasmania and encompasses vast tracts of stunning tarn, million-year-old forests, glacial mountains and Australia’s deepest lake, Lake Clair. Part of the World Heritage–listed Tasmanian Wilderness, Cradle Mountain National Park is home to a myriad of wildlife including quolls, echidnas, wombats, platypus and the eponymous Tasmanian Devil.
