Cradle of Humankind: Sterkfontein Caves & Maropeng
Today's tour brings you to Sterkfontein Caves in a dolomite hill of the Isaac Stegman Nature Reserve. This is the site where Mrs. Ples (the most complete pre-human skulls ever found) was discovered by Dr. Robert Broom. Mrs. Ples is considered as a likely precursor of today's humans, thus earning the area the nickname of ""Cradle of Humankind"".
Approximately 10km away, we will visit Maropeng. This education center, which houses some of the fossils found in the cave, will bring the history of humankind to life in an interactive way.
