Cape Peninsula - Family
Cape Town, South Africa
This guided day out is perfect for the whole family with treasure hunts in Kirstenbosch Gardens, fishing in Kalk Bay, stand up paddle boarding with penguins and game viewing in the Cape peninsula reserve.
This guided day out begins in the beautiful botanical gardens of Kirstenbosch where the whole family will embark on a treasure hunt taking you through the tree top canopy and along marked out trails with plenty of things to keep eyes peeled for along the way. You will then travel south towards Kalk Bay and discover this charming working fishing village. Have a go at some fishing off the harbor walls or venture further afield and enjoy a walk through the milk wood forest. As you move down the coast towards Simon's town, discover the rouge penguin colonies away from the crowds of Boulders Beach. For those willing have a go at stand-up paddle boarding to get a different perspective of these inquisitive creatures.
All penguined-out continue down to the Cape Point, where you will go in search of the Cape 5 (Ostrich, Baboons, Mountain Zebra, Bontebok and Tortoise) and wander along hiking trails which lead through indigenous fynbos, past hidden coves and rocky beaches. Learn about the shipwrecks on this coastline – keeping an eye out for lost treasure – and head up the funicular to the Cape Point Lighthouse, for an incredible panoramic view over the ocean, and back along the seaboard.
On the return journey back to Cape Town, make a stop at the Cape Point Vineyards, situated on the mountain slopes near Noordhoek - an ideal place to soak in the magical views, with a glass of their excellent home-produced wine in hand and a great place for the children to have a run around.
On board your vehicle you will have a gourmet pantry with drinks and plenty of snacks to enjoy through the day. Lunch is included but there are additional dining options depending on your appetites. You can choose from sampling local eats trying some of the artisan food offerings in local cafes, or enjoy a long lazy lunch in one of South Africa's fine restaurants. For those looking for something different, wild picnics can be arranged but are weather dependent. All options require advance bookings.
Please note: local drinks are included during your lunch experiences however anything over and above the local soft drinks, house wines and beer will be at additional cost.
