Robben Island Trip
A short ferry ride from the V and A Waterfront in Cape Town is the famous Robben Island, a cultural must-do when staying in Cape Town, this trip gives an insight into South Africa's difficult history, as well as brilliant views across Cape Towns harbor.
A former place of imprisonment for black political freedom fighters, such as Nelson Mandela, Robben Island is a reminder to the now democratic South Africa of the price that was paid for freedom. A brilliant family excursion, we recommend taking a specialized private tour for a more intimate and in-depth experience of Robben Island.
A declared UNESCO world heritage site, the museum has a great collection of artifacts. This historic trip is a must do when visiting Cape Town, not only as an interesting cultural experience, but as an insight into the complex history and struggles that South Africa has faced during the apartheid era. Be sure to take in the great views of Cape Town and its Table Mountain, and look out for the large bird colonies and established population of the once endangered African Penguin!
Please arrive at the Robben Island Terminal Building 45 minutes before your scheduled tour with passports. You will need to complete an indemnity form including your passport information and emergency contact details prior to boarding.
