Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
There is no bad time to go on safari in the Kruger National Park. The experience does, however, change from month to month. In the summer months (October to March), it gets very hot. The verdant vistas are all the more spectacular because of the rains, but this means that the foliage is denser, water is more abundant and game is therefore trickier to see. There are lots of beautiful migratory birds during the summer months. While the daytime temperature in the winter months (May to September) is ideal, it does get a little chilly at night and in the early morning.

Description
An exclusive oasis in the beautiful and game-rich Greater Kruger area, Singita Boulders Lodge offers high levels of service, impeccable guiding, luxurious, airy rooms and the chance to get close to nature, accompanied by your expert guide.
Singita Boulders Lodge sits on the banks of the Sand River, towering over the landscape, a monolith of curving thatch and piled stone that fuses seamlessly with the rocks that harness it to the earth. The lodge boasts a cool environment using a palette of charcoal, bone, rust, copper and ochre to decorate and reflect the four elements of earth, fire, air and water. There is a sense that everything has been derived from the earth and the smooth white linen and cascading water soothe the senses. Characterised by handcrafted design with the integrity of authentic African provenance, the lodge merges seamlessly with the shifting life, shapes and moods of the environment, providing a soothing sanctuary for world-weary travelers craving a connection with nature. The lodge is built around a mighty rock which tells a tale – when Singita’s creators found the area, it was perfect save for the enormous boulder where they planned to build the wine cellar. It was hundreds of tonnes, and far too big to shift, so they came up with a solution – simply build around the rock! Hence the name stuck, and guests can see the famous boulder for themselves. Guest areas are expansive and close to the river, allowing full engagement with the magnificent setting beneath the ebony and weeping boer bean trees.
Singita Boulders Lodge has enormous tree-top decks, giving unparalleled views over the surrounding countryside, and boasts impeccable yet unobtrusive service at all times. Activities focus on exploring the area with your expert guide, either on foot or by vehicle, soaking up all the highlights that Africa provides, and keeping eyes and ears open for the Big Five which frequent this area.
The suites at Singita Boulders are one-of-a-kind – stylish, spacious and with vast sundecks overlooking the wilderness, each suite has a magnificent stone bathroom and a huge, luxurious bedroom. Every suite is air-conditioned and has unobstructed views of the plains in front of camp – guests can often see lion or cheetah hunting from their bedroom window!
In the evenings after a busy safari day, choose to treat yourself in Singita’s exclusive spa, or take a dip in the heated plunge pool or for those feeling more active there is a gym. Then wind down with a delicious glass of wine from Singita’s very own wine cellar before settling down to a delicious pan-African meal served under the stars.

Reviews
(Press)
Natural habitat: Spread along the banks of the Sand River, this lodge is ethnic chic to the max: rough-stone walls, animal-hide rugs, wafty fabrics and scatter cushions.
Nocturnal activity: Each set of guest rooms is bigger than your average Mayfair pad, with four-poster beds, his-and-hers sinks and plunge pools.
Grrr factor: They have a knack for getting the big five - lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhinoceros - to appear as if on command, but the real triumph is spotting the ever-elusive wild dog.
Distinctive markings: Head to the Bush Spa for its utterly zonk-out-worthy Monkey Orange massage.
Grazing: You'll eat not once, not twice but SIX times a day. Expect lots of exotic game meat. And weight gain.
Leader of the pack: There are daily bumpity-bumps out into the bush with personal guides, as well as romantic starlit night safaris. If you're bored (what is WRONG with you?), you can swap four wheels for a spot of mountain-biking or archery.

I really liked the modern style of Singita Boulders and it definitely felt right when juxtaposed with the bush and the Sand River. The light and airy rooms had almost a beachy feel to them that was very relaxing and I felt more enjoyable in the heat of the bush than the darker heavier rooms at its sister camp Ebony Lodge.
The Singita Rangers share responsibilities across the two lodges ensuring the quality of the guiding and game viewing is matched throughout. Both camps also have the same fantastic wine cellars and same menus for evening meals. It really is down to a matter of style between the two camps, for me I think I enjoyed the scale of the communal areas at Ebony Lodge but really liked the rooms at Boulders. A tricky decision!

You walk into Boulders and literally think WOW. It is very cool, contemporary and oozes style. The rooms are amazing with gorgeous views onto the bush. You are looked after with true Singita eye for detail. Absolutely everything is thought about with amazing food, guiding and hospitality - it comes with a price tag but is absolutely worth every penny if you can!!!
