Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
April to October is best for time for visiting Peru’s Andean region and main highlights. It is typically sunny in the day and cold at night due to altitude. Heavy rains last from December to end of February with January and February being the wettest months. Peru is very popular in the high season, especially during their many cultural festivals such as Inti Raymi on 24 June, so best to book well in advance.
The Yucatán Peninsulao of Mexico is hot and humid. The best time to visit is during the dryer, slightly cooler months between November and May. Hurricane season runs from June to November. There’s afternoon showers most days during the tropical season with September and October typically being the wettest months and the ones with most risk of a tropical storm.

-
Days 1-4: Sacred Valley
Begin by flying into Lima and connect on to Cuzco, heading straight for the stunning Sacred Valley. This valley, which runs almost from Cuzco to Machu Picchu, is incredibly beautiful and is still a sacred place for the Incas, with a greater density of archaeology here than anywhere else on earth. High snow-capped peaks guard the Urubamba River, and there are colorful market towns and ancient sites to explore. A range of adventures are on offer here including horse riding, rafting, paragliding and biking. We have included a full-day tour of the valley with visits to local villages and ruins.
Accommodation: Hotel Sol y Luna (3 nights)
-
Days 4-5: Machu Picchu
Next, it’s time for one of the highlights of any trip to Peru as you board the train for the journey to Machu Picchu. Set high in the Andes and surrounded by mysterious cloudforest, Machu Picchu is bound to take your breath away as you explore the site with a private guide. Stay overnight at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo, a comfortable hotel set amongst the cloud forest, a short drive from the ruins.
Accommodation: Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel (1 night)
-
Days 5-7: Cusco
Return by train to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital and one of the most interesting cities in the Americas. Spanish colonial architecture sits on top of Inca masonry, and there are many narrow streets and squares, great museums and wonderfully evocative sites like the temple of Sacsayhuaman to explore. We have included a half day city tour with a private guide, including visits to the ruins which surround Cuzco.
Accommodation: Casa Cartagena Boutique Hotel & Spa (2 nights)
-
Days 7-8: Lima

Accommodation: Hotel B (1 night)
-
Days 8-13: Riviera Maya & Isla Holbox
Fly to Cancun for your final five nights, spending days relaxing on the white sand of Mexico’s Riviera Maya. The powdery sand and turquoise waters invite relaxation but there is also a huge array of activities on offer nearby and impressive Mayan ruins to explore. Opt to do as little or as much as you like, staying at the Viceroy Riviera Maya which is an exclusive adults-only property, where each villa has its own private pool, perfect for honeymooners.
