Description
Hotel Solar de las Ánimas, located in the heart of Tequila, is a stunning colonial boutique hotel owned by the Mexican Jose Cuervo family, surrounded by UNESCO-heritage Agave fields and featuring the largest private tequila cellar in Latin America.
Hotel Solar de las Ánimas is a luxury colonial boutique hotel with views of Tequila Volcano and the colonial town square, featuring ninety-three guest rooms, a fantastic sky lounge, a rooftop pool and beautiful courtyard pool. Owned by the Tequila Espiritu de Mexico and the Cuervo family, the hotel boasts the largest cellar for tequila tastings in the whole of Latin America and the family distillery is located just across the main plaza. On a Saturday, guests can arrive via the Jose Cuervo Express train, a stunning two-hour journey winding through the Agave fields from Guadalajara to Tequila, framed by the dramatic scenery of the Sierra Madre mountains.
The town is a 'pueblo mágico', a place where Mexican folklore is very much alive and visitors can experience the best of the authentic Mexican highlands. Surrounded by UNESCO-protected agave fields, it is the place to learn about the harvesting process first-hand and the production of premium tequilas. At Solar de las Ánimas, the Tequila Maestro welcomes guests for tequila tastings, and for tequila connoisseurs, we recommend spending time in the owner's private cellar, blending and creating a personalized tequila bottle to take home.
Aside from the Jose Cuervo Express, the Agave fields can be explored on horse back, by mountain bike or on foot. For breathtaking views, take a morning hot air balloon flight to take it all in from the air and enjoy a picnic breakfast among the Agave fields. For golfers, enjoy the views from the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus course located just twenty-minutes away.
At the hotel, indulge in spa treatments at The Spa, unwind by the pool or enjoy sundowners on the roof terrace at The Sky Bar. Dining can be enjoyed in the Restaurant or al fresco with views of the eighteenth century church of Santiago Apostol or the knowledgeable concierge will be able to reserve tables ahead at Tequila's best restaurants.

Reviews
Nikki Trailor (Staff)
I absolutely loved my stay here - the constant scent of sweet agave on the air is mouthwatering and the property is really beautiful. Rooms were comfortable and the rooftop bar was the perfect spot for enjoying the sunset.
I was really impressed with the experiences offered from the hotel, the tequila tasting was great fun and a very refined introduction to Mexico's signature spirit.
Tequila is a charming town which is still very much establishing itself as a tourist destination, service is therefore a little slow at times but Jose Cuervo is doing a lot in terms of improving the infrastructure and training staff. This is the only 5* in town and a great option if you can relax into the leisurely pace of Tequila.
