Highlights
Fabulously inventive cuisine in the hotel restaurant
An oasis of tasteful art and artefacts
The hotel organizes some great tours in Oaxaca that go beyond the surface
Beautiful swimming pool and gardens
Casa Oaxaca has a distinctly Mediterranean feel and is otherwise known as Oaxaca’s art hotel due to the many paintings and craftwork by local artists on display in each room.
There are seven exquisitely designed traditional rooms providing a unique experience of contemporary Oaxacan culture. Five of these are in the main house, which all lead on to a pretty central courtyard with vibrant local plants, and there are two further rooms in an annexe by the swimming pool. The hotel also has one of Oaxaca's finest restaurants, no mean feat in a city famed for its cuisine. Here you can enjoy inventive dishes such as rack of lamb in a pineapple and vanilla sauce and venison tamales with mole (pronounced mo-lay).
Casa Oaxaca not only makes a great base for exploring wonderful Oaxaca, but is also a lovely place to relax. Choose from a variety of traditional massages, steam and herbal baths, or enjoy a private yoga class. The hotel can also arrange a number of interesting tours that allow you to get beneath the city's skin. Join a market tour and cooking class with one of Casa Oaxaca’s chefs, go shopping at one of Oaxaca’s famous handicrafts markets, or visit local artisan studios.
