Insider's View
To start planning your vacation to Avani+ Luang Prabang
Description
Avani+, formerly Azerai, is a modern hotel in the charming town and UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang in Laos. Set in a lush green courtyard, Avani+ offers contemporary accommodation, providing a comfortable base from which to explore.
The hotel site itself has been in use since 1914, starting as quarters for French officers. However, whilst there are some local elements to the design, the Avani+ is very much fresh and contemporary - ideal for those looking to avoid the drawbacks that can come with more period properties.
There are 53 rooms within an L-shaped building, spread over two floors. The rooms have all of the comforts you would expect from a luxury hotel, including TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar and WI-FI. The decor is natural and light, using neutral tones and clean lines.
When not exploring the many sites of Luang Prabang and the surrounding countryside, there is a 25-meter pool to enjoy at the hotel, overlooked by an ancient banyan tree. There is also a tranquil spa, with therapies and treatments inspired by Laotian and traditional Asian techniques, as well as a fully equipped gym and yoga classes.
The Bistro offers a relaxed and social atmosphere for dining, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Breakfast is a continental buffet, and traditional bistro and Lao dishes are served for lunch. For dinner, both local and French-influenced cuisine is available. For those who just want to quench their thirst, there is the Bistro Bar and the Poolside Bar, which serves freshly prepared smoothies and cocktails.
Accommodation
There are 53 rooms in total, with three different room categories; but each is designed to be open-plan and simple yet comfortable. The basic room facilities are the same across the categories, including tea and coffee making equipment, WI-FI, a mini-bar and wall-mounted TV with a range of international channels.
Each room is en-suite with a shower and twin vanities. The beds are king-size but can be converted into twin beds on request.
Childcare
Children are welcome at the Avani+ Luang Prabang but please be aware there are no specific facilities for them.
Facilities
There is a 25-meter pool, accompanied by sun loungers. The AvaniSpa offers a range of therapies, and there is also a fully equipped gym, including cardio equipment, weight stations and free weights.
There is one restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with Lao and French-inspired cuisine. There are also two bars. The Bistro Bar's veranda is an ideal place to enjoy a drink before or after dinner, where you can watch the bustle of the street below and the night market. The Poolside Bar serves sharing platters and home-made juices, smoothies and cocktails.
Activities
From the Azerai+ it is possible to visit all of the fascinating sites in Luang Prabang and the surrounding countryside. From ornate temples to boat trips along the Mekong, there is so much to see and do.
