Elephant Pepper Camp is closed in April to Mid June.
The only time to avoid Kenya is during the long rainy season in April and May. November is considered the short rainy season, however, these are less predictable and are much lighter. The best time of year to visit the Maasai Mara is during the Great Wildebeest Migration which tends to pass through the Mara between mid July to late October.

Situated on the northern edge of Kenya's Maasai Mara Reserve, Elephant Pepper Camp is a traditional style camp and consists of nine beautiful tents. The camp is hidden away within the Mara North Conservancy, which has become a prime wildlife area.
Elephant Pepper Camp is an original safari camp situated in the Mara North Conservancy attached to one of the world’s greatest wildlife reserves, the Maasai Mara. This fascinating ecosystem is home to enormous herds of plains game, big cats and elephants, as well as colorful birds, small game, riverine wildlife and stunning scenery. Located on the Koiyaki Community group ranch in the northern part of the Mara, the camp is very low key, with no generator to interfere with the sounds of the bush and resident lion pride! The camp has never poured one bag of cement and could be completely removed leaving a virgin site.
There are eight canvas tented rooms with en-suite dressing rooms, flush toilets and safari showers with running water. There are also two beautiful larger honeymoon tents, which can also be used for families as they can put a couple of extra beds in the tent. The main lounge/dining tent offers family style dining and a help-yourself bar. Activities include day and night game drives in 4-wheel drive Land Rovers, guided walks to look at the smaller things, and also bush picnics. The homely atmosphere of the camp is part of its unique charm and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Delicious meals by the campfire or on a bush breakfast in the open plains are some of the lasting memories to take home.
The accommodation at Elephant Pepper Camp comprises ten en-suite tents – 8 luxury safari tents and 2 honeymoon/family suites.
Extra beds can be added to accommodate children under the age of 16 years only. The maximum capacity in camp at any one time is 22 (six extra beds).
There are 4 double tents with en-suite bathroom consisting on a safari shower and flush toilet. The rooms have a private verandah with hammock.
There are 4 twin safari tents with en-suite bathroom consisting of a safari shower with flush toilet. The rooms have a private verandah with hammock for relaxation
Elephant Pepper Camp welcomes children but there are no specific childcare facilities. The camp is not suited to very young children as the camp is unfenced and for this reason children must be supervised at all times. Food can be tailored to suit children and earlier meal times can be arranged where necessary. Babysitting can be organized for those that require it.
The activities from Elephant Pepper Camp are either focussed around game viewing or cultural visits to meet the local community. The highly trained and experienced guides will take guests on day and night (pre-dinner) drives, guided bush walks, bush breakfasts and sundowners.

You wouldn't know you were approaching a safari camp arriving at Elephant Pepper camp even though it's in the heart of a prime area of Mara North Conservancy - it's well hidden under a mini forest of acacia trees and you really feel like you are in a secret corner of the Maasai Mara.
If you want a real East African safari experience Elephant Pepper Camp is perfect - it's small and exclusive and the spacious green canvas tents are very comfortable and although they have hot bucket showers at the moment, they are planning on joining the running water revolution with regards to showers. But you should still feel like you're in a traditional camp away from it all, going back to nature when you sit around the camp fire every evening as the sun goes down.
