Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Rome enjoys a typically Mediterranean climate. Summers (from June to September) are hot and dry with temperatures often soaring to 37°C. High humidity is also common, particularly in July and August. Winter tends to be moderate, at least by northern European standards, with temperatures averaging around 10°C to 15°C between December and February. Spring (March to June) and early autumn (September and October) are the best times to visit Rome, with lovely blue skies and mild temperatures.
Sicily enjoys mild winters and warm springs and autumns. Even February, the coolest month, has average temperatures of 13°C, which means that any time of year is suitable. If you want to go sightseeing around the island’s legendary historic and natural sites, October–November and March–June are reliably warm, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 26°C, making it an ideal time to visit Rome and Sicily.

-
Days 1-4: Rome
The extraordinary history of Rome has given it a remarkable mix of architecture, and with its position amongst seven famous hills, it's truly somewhere that everyone should visit at least once in their lives. Begin your journey in this enchanting city, where you have the opportunity to explore the vast array of Roman ruins, the ephemeral Vatican, the famous fountains and monuments, and the myriad of winding streets and vibrant squares full of cafés and restaurants. We can organize a guide to give you a private tour, taking you to places that you might not find in a guide book and allowing you to appreciate the true magnificence of this city. After your fill of culture, fly to the warm shores of the Mediterranean and see a little slice of Sicily at one of Italy's premier golf and spa resorts.
Accommodation: Gran Melia Roma (3 nights)
-
Days 4-11: Sicily
From Rome, leave the fast pace of the city behind you, and travel to the peaceful shores of one of the country's southernmost points. The Rocco Forte Collection's Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is an exclusive hotel on the south coast of Sicily, just west of the traditional Baroque town of Sciacca. Set in 230 hectares of gentle rolling Sicilian countryside with nearly two kilometers of untouched private coastline, it's an ideal retreat. You’ll find two 18-hole golf courses, a truly serious award-winning Spa, tennis courts and the hotel’s very own kids club Verduraland. However, if you do fancy exploring the surroundings, Palermo is only an hour's drive away, the nearby ancient Greek temples of Agrigento are a splendid site, and the resort can organize anything from wine tours, visits to Renaissance palaces or local olive farms.
Accommodation: Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel (7 nights)
