The village which houses the hotel has a varied history, once a monastery in the 11th century, then a fortress, then a private country residence. Today, guests can soak up this rich history while enjoying first class hospitality. Set in classic Tuscan countryside, this hotel is a spectacular retreat.
The rooms are located around a lovely Piazza which comes alive at night with al fresco dining. The 74 rooms are all different and the style is perfectly in keeping with the rustic elegance of this historic noble residence, while adding a unique touch of contemporary design.
Guests can choose from two restaurants, the gourmet restaurant La Contrada which is open from May and is a sophisticated gastronomic experience of delectable Tuscan cuisine interpreted by the Resident Chef together with the world-famous icon Gordon Ramsay. La Cantina is located in a stunning vaulted wine cellar, where guests are able to enjoy more informal Tuscan cuisine year-round should they desire.
For an additional charge, guests can enjoy use of the 1,000 square meter spa which has a Finnish Sauna, sensorial showers, Hammam and two indoor pools, one of which features water with a high saline concentration to promote relaxation and wellbeing.
Also available is Villa Lavanda which is a stand alone Tuscan villa surrounded by a peaceful garden. This villa can sleep up to 7 and the price includes a twice weekly linen and towel change. Villa Lavanda guests have free access to all of the hotel's facilities. The villa includes three bedrooms, a kitchenette and a living area. It is also possible to hire a chef and staff for the duration of your stay for a truly luxurious break.
