Nordic climate - May, June and July are the driest months of the year. Mid-June to August is high season, but most highland tours don’t operate until July because of snow. At other times, many tourist facilities outside Reykjavík are closed. From September through March, the night is dark enough to see the Aurora Borealis. From mid-March to the beginning of June Deplar Farm is used exclusively as a heli-skiing destination.

Itinerary

Day 1-3

Reykjavik, Iceland

Day 1 – Arrival in Reykjavik & City Immersion
Your Icelandic sojourn begins in the vibrant city of Reykjavik, where the contemporary elegance of The Reykjavik EDITION awaits. After settling in, enjoy a private city tour to uncover Reykjavik’s colorful history and dynamic urban culture — a perfect introduction to the energy and charm of Iceland’s capital.

The Reykjavik EDITION combines sophisticated modern luxury with a bold architectural presence in one of the world’s most sustainable capitals. The striking exterior is created from timber charred black using an ancient Japanese technique, paired with blackened steel frames that evoke Iceland’s lava landscape. Inside, the hotel exudes a laid-back yet edgy social scene, featuring Michelin-star dining, stylish bars, an underground club, a night spa, and alfresco dining options. Each of the 253 rooms and suites, including a stunning Penthouse with panoramic views, has been designed as an intimate, stylish retreat. Interiors blend warm palettes of ash wood and pale grey oak, personalized furniture, copper accents, faux fur rugs, and artisanal local artwork. Some rooms include private terraces, while most feature floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the surrounding neighbourhood.

Day 2 – The Golden Circle & Blue Lagoon
Today, venture out with a private expert guide to explore Iceland’s iconic Golden Circle – a captivating circuit that showcases the country’s raw natural beauty. Visit the UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park, where in summer, you may choose to snorkel in the Silfra fissure between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates. Continue to other Golden Circle highlights such as Geysir and Gullfoss Waterfall, before unwinding with a rejuvenating soak in the world-renowned Blue Lagoon, surrounded by lava fields and steamy, mineral-rich waters – the ultimate Icelandic wellness experience.

Day 4 – Into the Central Highlands: Arrival at Highland Base
Leave the well-trodden paths behind as you venture deep into Iceland’s lesser-explored Central Highlands. After an exhilarating 70km off-road journey, arrive at the newly opened Highland Base Hotel, a luxurious basecamp nestled in one of the most remote regions of the country. Surrounded by dramatic landscapes and volcanic terrain, this retreat marks the beginning of a two-night stay designed for true wilderness immersion.

Highland Base Kerlingarfjöll combines raw natural beauty with exceptional comfort. Rustic yet refined, the hotel offers thoughtfully designed spaces and warm hospitality at the edge of civilization. For elevated luxury, opt for one of the panoramic-view lodges, where handcrafted furnishings and modern amenities provide a stylish sanctuary in the wild. This is a stay unlike any other — serene, exclusive, and deeply connected to the land.

Today, explore the breathtaking Kerlingarfjöll mountains, a geothermal wonderland where steam vents, rust-colored rhyolite hills, and glacial rivers converge in surreal harmony. Your journey continues south to the secluded sanctuary of Torfhús Retreat, set amidst the untamed beauty of Iceland’s countryside. Far from the distractions of city lights, this peaceful haven offers ideal conditions for stargazing and, with luck, witnessing the magical Northern Lights dancing across the Arctic sky.

Torfhús Retreat is a model of sustainability and tradition, blending effortlessly into the landscape with its turf roofs and stone walls, inspired by classic Icelandic turf houses. The retreat is powered entirely by geothermal and hydroelectric energy, embodying Iceland’s eco-conscious spirit. Each of the 10 stand-alone Torfhús features two bedrooms, a spacious living area, a fully equipped kitchenette, and a private geothermally heated basalt plunge pool—perfect for relaxing under the stars.

Then, take to the skies on a private heli-tour that will sweep you over glowing lava fields, towering volcanoes, ancient glaciers, and majestic mountain ranges—an unforgettable experience that offers a rare perspective on Iceland’s raw and ever-changing geography. Return to Torfhús Retreat in the evening to unwind in your private hot pool or gather in the Langhus, the central lodge inspired by Viking longhouses, to toast to the day’s adventures.

Day 8-11

Troll Peninsula, Northern Iceland

Day 8 – Northbound: Reykjavik to Akureyri & Arrival at Deplar Farm
This morning, return to Reykjavik to catch a short 30-minute flight north to Akureyri, Iceland’s second city and the gateway to the enchanting northern coast. From there, venture into the remote Troll Peninsula for a three-night stay at the spectacular Eleven Deplar Farm, a haven of comfort and adventure nestled in the wild.

Once a humble sheep farm, Deplar Farm has been transformed into one of Iceland’s most luxurious retreats. With only 13 impeccably designed rooms, the lodge exudes a modern Nordic aesthetic, blending natural materials, muted tones, and thoughtful touches to create a warm, sophisticated atmosphere. Surrounded by towering mountains, shimmering lakes, and rushing rivers, this is where Iceland’s raw nature meets refined living.

Day 9 – Exploring the Troll Peninsula
Wake up in one of the most scenic and untouched corners of Iceland. Today, immerse yourself in the natural wonders of the Troll Peninsula. Whether it’s hiking along secluded trails, kayaking on glassy fjords, or horse riding through volcanic valleys, there’s an adventure to match every interest and energy level. After a day of discovery, return to the lodge to unwind in the geothermally heated outdoor pool or indulge in spa treatments that soothe both body and mind. In the evening, gather for a gourmet dinner crafted from local ingredients, paired with views of the Northern skies.

Day 10 – Arctic Wildlife & Stargazing
Today offers a chance to witness the incredible biodiversity of Iceland’s northern waters on a whale-watching expedition. The fjords around Akureyri are renowned for frequent sightings of humpbacks, minke whales, and even orcas during the right season. Back at Deplar Farm, take time to enjoy the surrounding nature or indulge in the lodge’s amenities—from cold plunges to yoga sessions. As night falls, the remote location makes for unmatched stargazing opportunities. On clear nights, the Northern Lights may again make a dramatic appearance to mark your final evening in the wild.

Day 11 – Farewell to the North
After a final breakfast and moment of stillness amidst the mountains, transfer to Akureyri Airport for your short flight back to Reykjavik, connecting onward for your journey home. As you depart, carry with you the unforgettable memories of Iceland’s diverse landscapes, rich heritage, and awe-inspiring beauty—a truly immersive journey through the land of fire and ice.
