In the western, central and eastern Bhutan you will mostly experience cold European-like weather. Winter lasts here from November to March. The Monsoon occurs between June and August when the temperature is normally between 8° and 21°C. October and November are arguably the best months, when the monsoon has passed and the skies are clear. The spring months of March, April and May are best for the flora, but it can be stormy as the monsoon builds up for July-September.

Approximately three hours, the drive takes you over the beautiful Dochula Pass where you can take in the undulating Himalayas that span into the distance and enjoy the billowing prayer flags around you. The next two nights will be spent in a serenely positioned boutique property surrounded by pine forest in the Punakha Valley. That afternoon and the following day explore this beautiful area by foot, road or raft. Visit the iconic Punakha Dzong, the ‘fertility enhancing’ Chimi Lhakhang monastery, stroll along scenic hiking trails or in the summer set off white water-rafting down the Po Chhu River past the verdant fields and traditional houses. If a visit overlaps the weekend, then a visit to the weekend market is a further insight into the countries culture and foodie favorites.
