The Lake District is beautiful in spring (November and December) and autumn (March and April) and fresher in these months than during the height of summer. November and April is the best time to visit and the lodge opens each year from 15 November until end of April.
Please be aware that Patagonia weather is unpredictable. During your stay some days can be very warm (over 25ºC), sunny and with no wind and others can be cold (5ºC), windy and rainy. In spring (November through December) and autumn (mid March to end April) it can still be cool. Rain occasionally and with frosts at night. In Summer (January to mid March) can be warm sometimes hot and usually dry. Layered clothing is best but a warm water/windproof jacket is a must as well as a wide-brimmed hat for all seasons and activities. All the season is good for riding but November and April can be colder months.

Description
Estancia Arroyo Verde is a remote exclusive estancia set in a sheltered valley near Lake Traful in the Argentine Lake District. It makes a wonderful base for some wonderful treks, both on foot and on horseback, and also offers great fly-fishing.
Estancia Arroyo Verde is dedicated to cattle and sheep rearing and the delightful owners the Larivière family have been in the region for 80 years.
Overlooking the valley, the traditional wood and stone built houses are set in beautifully landscaped gardens with mature trees, shrubs and colorful borders. There are several outside seating areas to enjoy a drink before lunch or to watch the sunset.
In the main house, the sun-lounge, bar, living-room and dining-room with their fireplaces were designed to create a cosy and relaxed atmosphere for guests. Each of the four individually decorated twin and double bedrooms have en-suite facilities and heating. In an adjacent house another two guest bedrooms with en-suite bathroom has a separate entrance and private porch.
About a mile and a half from the main house, the cabin perches on a rocky outcrop overlooking the lake and it commands a magnificent view. It has a twin bedroom with bathroom, and spacious living room with extra beds if needed. The deck overlooking the lake is the ideal spot to enjoy the sunset.
The picturesque River Traful which runs for ten miles through the unspoiled beauty of Arroyo Verde is home to land-locked salmon, brown and rainbow trout. The surrounding Andes Mountains make for breath-taking horse riding, hiking and bird-watching excursions and not to forget the possibility of sighting the famous Andean Condor.
Summer in Patagonia lends itself to the luxury of eating outdoors specially the “asado” (BBQ), the local way of preparing succulent beef and home-grown lamb. Estancia Arroyo Verde is known for its traditional home cooking. Sample some tasty local dishes such as empanadas, carbonada, milanesas, puchero, roast beef, panqueques con dulce de leche.
All guests may take part in fly-fishing, horse riding, swimming, hiking, bird watching and picnics and do as much or as little as they like in this idyllic setting. What makes Arroyo Verde so special is that it is still home for the Larivière family who take an active part in preserving this unique establishment and maintaining high standards of hospitality.

4 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms in the main house and in an adjacent building another 2 double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. About a mile and a half from the main house, the cabin has a double bedroom with bathroom, and spacious living room with 2 extra beds if needed. The deck overlooking the lake is the ideal spot to enjoy the sunset.
Activities
Horse riding, fly fishing (additional supplement), hiking, bird watching, swimming in the lake and picnics.
All riders (beginners or experienced) can choose between easy trail riding or more advanced mountain riding. The rides can be for a few hours, half day or full day depending on guests' preferences. On your arrival you will be allocated a horse to suit your needs. Their horses are sure footed and well mannered. The rides are taken out by their experienced staff who at all times accompany the guests not just for safety reasons but to any answer questions on the area and its wildlife that you may come across.
Arroyo Verde has for more than 25 years played host to discerning anglers of all ages and abilities and to those seeking adventure in comfort. With innumerable trails to choose from, guests can explore the ranch. A gentle hike down the river or more energetic ones around the lake and up the mountains.
Bird watching is another great way of discovering the magnificence of the Traful Valley. Spot Andean condors ascending on the thermal currents, Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle, Peregrine Falcons, Southern Lapwings, Upland & Ashy-headed geese, Black-faced Ibis and Southern Crested-Caracara to name but a few.
