Through a combination of vacations and work trips, I’m fortunate to have visited 34 (and counting) of the 50 US States, and much of Canada. So, having experienced an extensive amount of both countries, it’s easy to see why lots of North American’s don’t feel the need to leave! Snow to the North, beaches to the South, awe-inspiring sights across the country and cities to rival any in the World.

Highlights of my travels include the unique roadside attractions & abandoned towns driving Route 66, ziplining in Colorado and the sheer scale of Canada with its’ awesome lakes & mountains.

My personal favorite destination is, rather unusually, New Mexico; a melting pot of Cowboys & Native Americans; it’s big enough to have grandiose skyscrapers, yet small enough to retain a friendly local feel & features plenty of authentic culture. Craft beers, great food and good weather make it a must-go 'off-the-beaten-path' US destination

My hot picks

My top tips

  • If you’re keen to avoid the throngs of crowds in Summer, head to one of the lesser-known National or State Parks. For example, Black Canyon of the Gunnison in Colorado is just as awe-inspiring as The Grand Canyon yet far quieter.

  • In New England, the famous ‘Fall colors’, are best experienced on a North-South route, as the leaves also change in this order.

  • Always be sure to try and fill your fuel tank when you’re approaching a quarter full. In some more remote areas of the country, it can be some time before you see your next gas station!
