Meg Shepro
I was lucky enough to be introduced to world travel at a very young age and fell in love with Africa when my parents went to Kenya in 2009, bringing back incredible pictures of the Big Five and even better stories about their encounters. In 2013, I got to experience the magic myself as I trekked for gorillas in Uganda and witnessed the famous wildebeest migration across the Mara River in Kenya.

Since then I have racked up nine sub-Saharan African countries including Tanzania, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Zambia, Malawi and Namibia. My passion for travel extends far beyond my own experiences and I love to inspire others to go out and discover new cultures and scenery. Africa is an inspiring continent and each country proposes a completely different experience from the next, here are just a few of my favorites.
East Africa is full of wide plains where huge herds of animals come to you while Southern Africa’s thick bushveld and waterways have you searching for rewarding game sightings.
From riding a horse alongside zebra in northern Kenya’s Laikipia Region, canoeing down the mighty Zambezi River while an elephant played at the waters edge, to a jaw dropping leopard encounter in Botswana’s Okavango Delta and flying low above the scattered shipwrecks and migrating humpback whales along Namibia’s dramatic Skeleton Coast, I’ve had so many outstanding moments traveling throughout Africa and game viewing away from the average land rover.
Africa is not only about the viewing the big beasties, however, and we offer some true bucket list items that combine with any safari. Turquoise waters and white sandy beaches of Zanzibar or Lake Malawi can easily excite (even someone from San Diego). Seeing the stunning Victoria Falls from both the Zimbabwean and Zambian sides, I now can happily say that I have another of the Natural Wonders of the world checked off the list. The southern city of Cape Town is spectacular! I could move there in a heartbeat. Paddle boarding to see the penguins of boulders beach and enjoying all the wonderful wine and food pairings in Franschhoek were two of my favorite experiences.
I’ll be happy to answer your questions on any of these destinations. While everyone feels the place they did their safari is truly the best, each safari destination is unique and I can make sure you travel to the country that best matches your interests.

From recommending the best spots in Kenya and Zanzibar to putting together our unbelievable trip we knew we were in great hands. The accommodation, service, food, and overall experience at both Ol Seki & Zawadi were exceptional - we are so grateful and wouldn't change a thing!"

"I typically enjoy planning all our trips myself and doing the all the research, but the value of working with people who take time to get to know you, understand what you'll appreciate most, and who are experts in the area is without a doubt the way to go for big trips. We went to South Africa and every part of the trip was so perfectly orchestrated. The people and places and experiences were all so wonderfully impactful. The Scott Dunn team provided excellent recommendations, they were patient, detail oriented (without bombarding us with questions), and communicated at the level you hope to expect from a 5-star organization. Scott Dunn is my first call for our next great adventure."

We had an AMAZING trip to Africa! I didn't know much about Africa but after our first consultation with Meg I knew she was the right person for us. Meg was super friendly, patient, helpful & very knowledgeable, she came up with the perfect itinerary to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday in Africa. We ended up traveling to South Africa and Zambia, both will always hold a special place in our hearts. From start to finish this trip was perfect, there was not one issue regarding transfers, private guides or lodging. This was a trip of a lifetime, and we are so thankful for the amazing experiences.

My top tips
-
Get on top of your jetlag by setting your watch to your destination's local time when you board your plane. Watch movies for the entire flight or grab a cheeky snooze halfway through, but it'll definitely make a difference.
-
Bring at least one outfit or accessory that makes you feel like a rock star. On safari you should wear muted tones but at dinner you can glam it up.

Embrace technology. I always make the effort to snag the email or Facebook of someone I connected with on my trip (guides, locals or fellow travelers) so we can keep in touch. It makes your experience even more meaningful.
