To start planning your holiday to King's Pool
King's Pool Camp is located in the Linyanti Wildlife Reserve, a private reserve in the northern part of Botswana. The nine twin-bedded tented rooms, set under cool thatch, overlook a hippo filled lagoon in front of the camp.
Named for Scandinavian royalty who camped at the water's edge, King's Pool Lagoon attracts large herds of elephant during the dry season. King's Pool Camp combines such spectacular sightings with a luxurious place from which to see them.
King’s Pool is superbly set above the oxbow-shaped King’s Pool Lagoon with the Linyanti River to the north. The Linyanti area has a large wildlife resource with a wide variety of species, but it is most noted for its very large elephant population, which can reach enormous densities during the winter months.
The diversity of the game means the Linyanti is a perfect place for any visitor. The major predators such as lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena are regularly sighted together with good populations of impala and smaller animals. The reed and papyrus swamps are ideal for numerous and diverse species of birds and are a magnet for game in the dry winter months.
The eight twin-bedded tented rooms and one suite, all of canvas are some of the most luxurious in Botswana. Each of the suites has its own large bedroom area, lounge, private plunge pool and a sala. Each en-suite bathroom has two showers, two hand basins and a separate flush toilet. There is an outdoor shower for those who prefer to shower under the stars. The main lounge, pub and dining room are under thatch, and there is a swimming pool built into the deck. The main area is linked to the bedrooms by a raised walkway to allow animals to wander freely around the camp.
Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night drives, seasonal boating and occasionally guided walks.

Kings Pool is a little piece of paradise in the Linyanti as it is set above an oxbow shaped lagoon that is not just a beautiful back drop, but an attraction to many different types of wildlife. Perfect for the twitchers and big game lovers, the lagoon draws in numerous species of birds and is known for hosting wildlife hunts where the predator is wild dog. You truly do not have to leave camp to experience incredible game viewing and the staff will make you feel like you never want to leave.

I spent a wonderful afternoon in the sala on my deck watching and listening to the hippos grunting in the lagoon below. On the evening game drive we came across a massive breeding herd of about 60 elephant, which was slightly heart stopping-but just incredible listening to them all grumbling and they communicated between the herd.
