Chitabe is a luxurious eight-roomed tented camp offering game drives and walks in this pristine area - Built on one of the most beautiful islands in the Okavango Delta, the camp's situation is bordered on three sides by the Moremi Game Reserve.
The marvellous Okavango Delta comprises open floodplains, waterways, marshlands, dry acacia and mopane woodlands, riverine areas and open grasslands. The wildlife in this breathtaking mix of the Okavango Delta is as diverse as it is prolific: from elephant to impala and lion to wild dog.
Accommodation consists of eight spacious tents set on elevated wooden decks beneath the lush tree canopy. Each tented room has en-suite facilities with flush toilets, a shower and basin and has been thoughtfully designed to blend in with the surrounding bush - views from the deck are stunning, and game can often be seen wandering past, quite oblivious!
Activities consist of day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles accompanied by an experienced guide, as well as nature walks in the surrounding area, which boasts a variety of environments from open plains to shady, dappled groves. Game viewing is good, and includes buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, cheetah, reedbuck, lechwe, impala, zebra and hippo. Wild dog are also sometimes resident in the area.
Chitabe Camp also has two elevated platforms located in the reserve, one of which is within walking distance from the camp. Guests can experience a "sleep out" in the Okavango Delta under the stars in full comfort and safety.
The accommodation at Chitabe Camp is in eight spacious and luxurious Meru-style tents which are built on risen wooden decks amongst the vegetation of the Okavango Delta. Each tent has twin beds, en-suite facilities and an indoor as well as an outdoor shower.
Children are most welcome in camp but it is not suitable for very young children and therefore there is a minimum age of 9 years. Food and meal times can be adapted to suit younger guests.
There is a thatched dining area, pub and lounge area which are built on raised decks to provide superb views across the Okavango Delta floodplain, and a pool allows guests to cool off in the heat of the day. There is also a hide for 'secret' game viewing.
Safaris at Chitabe Camp include day and night game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, nature walks and spectacular bird-watching. The multiplicity of habitats surrounding Chitabe Camp means there is an abundance of wildlife to be seen, including elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, impala and, occasionally, wild dogs. Night drives also provide opportunities for guests to see nocturnal mammals such as civet, serval, genet, porcupine and aardwolf.

A really lovely camp with beautiful rooms. I totally feel in love with all their pictures there. The main area has gorgeous views across the plains with the swimming pool beside it. The pool is a great place to relax during the day and just watch what might come up to munch in front of you!
The game viewing here was superb - we saw a huge pride of about 8 lions all hunting at dusk. Leopards and wild dog were also sighted on my short visit. The area is becoming famous for its sightings and is fast becoming a camp very difficult to find space in!
I would highly recommend it for families and couples alike.
