Itinerary

Rich in breath-taking scenery, adventure and history, this two week itinerary provides a fantastic introduction to the diversity of South America. A combination of ruins, salt flats and high altitude lakes, it's an unforgettable trip.

  1. Fly to Lima

  2. Days 1-3: Lima

    Upon arrival, private transfer to your hotel located in the trendy Miraflores neighbourhood. During your time in Lima, experience a gastronomic tour and explore Peru's culinary delights. Mix with the locals at a Peruvian market and discover a colourful array of fresh produce. Learn how to prepare a delicious Peruvian Ceviche as well as the Pisco Sour cockail, Peru's national drink and get a flavour for the country.

    Accommodation: Casa Andina Premium Miraflores (2 nights)

  3. Days 3-5: Cusco

    Take a morning flight to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cusco. During your time in Cusco, enjoy a full day tour exploring the best of the city, visit the ruins of Sacsayhuaman and the Inca Shrine Qenqo. Marvel at the legendary firestone walls of the Koricancha temple, witness the fascinating geometry of the Stone of the Twelve Angles and visit the magnificent Cathedral housing invaluable colonial works of art.

    Accommodation: El Retablo (2 nights)

  4. Days 5-7: Sacred Valley

    Explore the beauty of the Sacred Valley on a full day tour. Visit the authentic and traditional Indian market in Pisac and continue through the Urubamba Valley to Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town and fortress. The next day enjoy at leisure, choose from a number of adventure activities such as horse-riding, mountain-biking or hiking to explore the region's most stunning scenery.

  5. Days 7-8: Machu Picchu

    In the morning, take the train to the town of Aguas Calientes, pass through a diverse range of pristine landscapes and on arrival make your way to the impressive site of Machu Picchu. A complete guided tour of Machu Picchu will be provided and after fully exploring the ruins return to your hotel in Aguas Calientes.

    Accommodation: El MaPi (1 night)

  6. Days 8-9: Cusco

    Today is at leisure. You may choose to return to Machu Picchu, hike Huayna Picchu or relax in the village of Aguas Calientes and its hot springs. In the afternoon, you will board the train to return to Cusco.

    Accommodation: El Retablo (1 night)

  7. Days 9-11: Puno & Lake Titicaca, Peru

    Take the explorer train from Cusco to Puno (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday only). This is a fantastic train ride that takes a gentle climb to higher and cooler altitudes. The journey is broken by a scenic stop at La Raya, which is also the highest point on the route. Three-course lunch included. Restaurant and bar service is available at an additional cost.

    During your time in Puno, enjoy a full day tour to explore Lake Titicaca. Visit the floating islands of Uros, which are man-made from tortora reed, and learn how the lives of the Uros people are intertwined with the tortora reed, using it for just about every purpose imaginable in order to survive on the lake. Experience the lifestyle of traditional weavers on the island of Taquile and discover their unique history and amazing textiles.

  8. Days 11-13: La Paz

    Bid farewell to Peru today as you depart for Copacabana on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca. On arrival take the hydrofoil cruise to Moon Island, where you will explore the Virgins Temple “Iñak Uyu'' before continuing on to Sun Island, where you will visit the Pilcocaina Sun Temple. Head to La Paz in time for dinner and get a good night's sleep before exploring the buzzing Bolivian capital the next day.

    Spending a couple of nights here gives you time to explore the city's fascinating witches' market and charming colonial quarter. We've included a privately guided tour so you don't miss any of the city's best bits.

  9. Days 13-16: Salar de Uyuni & the Altiplano

    Transfer to the La Paz airport for your flight to Uyuni. On arrival into Uyuni begin exploring the world's largest salt flat covering an area of 12.000 square km. Visit the Salt Lake and the Isla Pescado and soak up the beauty of the surrounds. After lunch visit the Ojos de Agua, the Salt Museum and Volcan Thunupa and Mummies Museum. Overnight at the Salt Hotel located on the shores of the Salt Lake.

    Accommodation: Hotel de Sal Luna Salada (3 nights)

  10. Flight Home via La Paz

    After a hearty breakfast, you'll head back to the airport in Uyuni to connect with your onward flight home.
