Katie Horton
Katie, a born and bred South African has spent years travelling across Africa and the Indian Ocean to gain invaluable insight into what takes a trip to Africa from being just a great holiday to an unforgettable one.

Some of Katie’s top highlights in her own travels includes visiting the mighty Victoria Falls, gorilla trekking in Uganda, a walking safari in Tanzania, dancing with Maasai warriors in Kenya, relaxing on the sandy shores of Mauritius and floating through the channels of Botswana’s Okavango Delta on a mokoro. Katie knows how to tailor and curate each personalised itinerary to suit your needs, from first-hand knowledge of local restaurants to the best places to go on a safari year-round."

- Katie our contact delivered in exceptional fashion and is the very definition of why one uses a high end company such as Scott Dunn.
My hot picks
-
Cape Grace Hotel, Cape Town, South Africa
Right in the heart of the V&A Waterfront, this is the place to stay with great access to the city and you are treated like a family member, welcomed home on arrival! -
Chitwa Chitwa, Sabi Sands Game Reserve, Greater Kruger, South Africa
Located on a waterhole, it’s possible to see game without even leaving the lodge! This is also leopard territory, so if you want to see the elusive leopard, this is the place to go. -
Duba Plains, Duba Concession, Okavango Delta and Moremi, Botswana
Located in the Okavango Delta, watch the elephants drink from the water hole in front of your tent and at night, hear lions roaring close by! -
Namiri Plains Camp, Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
Set in the Eastern part of the Serengeti, this part of the park was closed off to the public until recently for big cat research. The big cats are in abundance here and the game viewing is amazing, all to enjoy whilst staying in luxury! -
Saruni Samburu, Samburu National Reserve, Northern Kenya, Kenya
Culture, views, wildlife, breath-taking landscapes – what’s not to love about this lodge!
My top tips
-
Always bring your own binoculars, everyone’s eyes are different, so it’s great to have your own rather than sharing with other people on a vehicle and having to adjust the setting and also having to wait your turn!
-
Take your photos then sit back and enjoy the sighting, it’s your memories that will replay in your mind for years not the photos!

Planning is key, Africa is a diverse and exciting continent to explore and logistics really do matter - no country is the same, so trust your specialist as they guide you to what works best based on your requirements.
