Uruguayan Countryside, Uruguay
Estancia El Charabon
  • Experience the (enviable) slow pace of rural Uruguayan life at this family run, traditional estancia and working farm in Uruguay’s picturesque countryside

  • The Anglophile owners, Jorge and Graciela, have decorated the nine quaint guestrooms with interesting artifacts they have brought back to Uruguay from their travels

  • Just 20 minutes' drive from the gorgeous wild coastline and surrounded by rolling green meadows and woodlands you’ll feel completely removed from the daily hustle and bustle of urban life

  • The atmosphere is friendly and informal, you’ll be sharing stories with the owners and other guests over delicious home cooked meals (particularly tasty are the barbecues) and some of the region’s outstanding red wine

Guests can enjoy a full range of amenities including homemade foods and the attentive service of the hosts and members of staff. In addition to enjoying the estancia's relaxing environment, guests can get out and experience the countryside with tours organized and hosted on-site. During these excursions there are opportunities to learn about cattle breeding and take part in rural chores such as milking and branding. Experienced horse riders can enjoy the “Charabon Beach Ride”, an adventure across the countryside towards the beach and finishing in the village of San Antonio that’s nestled between native forests. Among the other activities guests can enjoy are walks to the forests, horse riding through neighboring fields with the local gauchos or a gentle swim in the property's swimming pool. There will also be plenty of opportunities to get to know the many animals that live at the property, including some friendly cats and peacocks!
