November to April is the ideal time to visit weather wise. The very popular peak summer season from Christmas to mid-February gets booked up well in advance around the Jose Ignacio area so best to plan early. During this period the nearby beach hang out of Jose Ignacio (30 minutes drive away) comes alive and there is a great party atmosphere. For those wishing to experience the buzz of Jose Ignacio whilst staying in sleepy Garzon, it is worth bearing in mind however that during the quieter season - from late February to early December, many of Jose Ignacio's bars and restaurants are closed.
To start planning your vacation to Casa Ana
Casa Ana is a beautifully decorated small boutique hotel in Uruguay's sleepy village of Garzon, 30 minutes inland from hip Jose Ignacio, and a superb base to enjoy the peaceful countryside, exceptional personal service and incredible local food and wine.
Casa Ana is styled in the local Garzon architecture of low built houses of the 1920s and simply oozes character. The casa has been converted to a six room bed and breakfast which can be rented out exclusively or by individual suite.
Almost everything in the home has been made locally, including the wrought-iron beds and the cabinets in the kitchen and living room, which were done by artisans and the stones on the fireplaces, which come from a nearby quarry.
Maid service and self-catering are available but the majority of guests stay here to experience the delicious meals prepared by celebrity chef Francis Mallman and his team from Mallman’s Hotel Garzon next door.
Casa Ana has an extensive garden with a swimming pool and a Palapa style pool house including a Ping-Pong court, an Observatory with a 10” Meade computerised telescope and a media room with Wi-Fi and there is internet connection throughout. Yoga and massage are also available on request.
Six beautifully appointed guest rooms with wrought-iron beds, locally handcrafted fittings and effortless style.
Casa Ana has a living room and dining room, bar lounge and kitchen, outside pool and pool terrace.
Cycling, cooking classes, horse riding, visit to local vineyards and olive plantation.
