Itinerary

Day 1 - 4
  • Bangkok

    At a Glance

    Day 1: Arrival

Bangkok hits you immediately – noise, heat, the scent of charcoal and spices filling the air. Fast-track services get you through the airport quickly, and your guide meets you on the other side to drive you into the city. Check in and rest. The team understand that arrival days aren't about schedules – they're about settling in properly after a long flight.

    Day 2: The City Revealed

An orientation with a local guide helps you navigate Bangkok's rhythm. You'll start at the Grand Palace, where the roofs have a geometric precision that takes time to notice – the way each angle catches light, the layering of detail that doesn't announce itself immediately. Inside, the Emerald Buddha sits in its chamber, drawn pilgrims for centuries, and standing in front of it you understand why people have made the journey.

Wat Pho comes next. The reclining Buddha stretches 45 meters along the floor, and you walk its length slowly, taking in the scale of it – the feet decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, the hands positioned with deliberate care. There's something in the proportions that shifts how you think about space and devotion.

The klongs wind through quieter neighbourhoods away from the main roads, where Bangkok's domestic life actually happens. Floating markets operate early, before the tour boats arrive, and you'll see produce vendors setting out their stock, noodle sellers preparing for the morning rush, families moving between wooden houses on stilts that rise and fall with the water level. Go before 8 AM and you'll mostly have them to yourself.

    Day 3: Bangrak Food Tour

A foodie tour moves you through Bangrak's narrow streets and into its history. This neighbourhood has been Bangkok's food center for decades, and your guide stops at places locals eat – not restaurants, but stalls run by people who've been doing this for twenty years. You'll taste dishes you won't find on tourist menus, and the history of each one matters: why certain spices, which regions they come from, how flavors tell you about trade routes and migration. By the end, you understand Thai food goes far deeper than pad thai.

Day 4: Bangkok to the Hills of Khao Yai

This morning, your private driver will meet you in Bangkok to begin the scenic drive north to the peaceful hills of Khao Yai. The journey itself is a lovely transition from city to country. Upon arrival, we’ve arranged a relaxed local lunch to welcome you to the region. The afternoon brings a sophisticated tasting experience at a local vineyard, where you can sample regional wines and fresh, seasonal grapes – a surprising side of Thailand that grown-ups and children alike enjoy.

As the sun begins to set, we’ll take you to an open rice field nestled against the lush mountains for a truly spectacular natural phenomenon: the sight of millions of bats emerging from a nearby cave to swarm the twilight sky. It’s an unforgettable spectacle. Afterward, you’ll head to the InterContinental Khao Yai where dinner will be served at your leisure.

Day 5: Khao Yai National Park Exploration

After a leisurely breakfast at the resort, you’ll meet your private guide for a day dedicated to the Khao Yai National Park. We’ll begin with a gentle three-kilometer nature walk through the forest, heading toward the Nong Phug She observation tower. This area is a vital watering hole and offers the best chance of spotting wild elephants, deer, and other local wildlife – a thrilling moment for all ages.

The walk culminates at the beautiful Heo Suwat Waterfalls, famously used as a setting for the movie The Beach, where you can take some time to enjoy the serenity. Following a relaxed lunch at a local restaurant, the rest of your afternoon is entirely free to enjoy the exceptional facilities at the InterContinental. Perhaps a cooling dip in the pool or some time to relax on your private terrace.

Day 6: Serenity and Sights in Khao Yai

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the InterContinental this morning, with the day yours to shape at a relaxed pace. We’ve kept the morning free for the family to simply enjoy the beautiful resort facilities—perhaps a swim, a cycle around the grounds, or a moment of calm on your terrace.

Should you wish, we can arrange an exciting Night Safari within the National Park. A ranger-led truck with a spotlight allows you to search for nocturnal animals like sambar deer, civets, and possibly even bears. This is a wonderfully unique experience that truly brings the jungle to life after dark.

Day 7 - 10
  • Chiang Mai

    At a Glance

    Day 7: Flight North

The flight north takes you into a completely different landscape, where mountains rise around Chiang Mai and the air feels different as you descend – cooler, quieter, greener than Bangkok. You're checking in within fifteen minutes of leaving the airport. The afternoon is unscheduled, and you can rest at your hotel, wander the Old City's lantern-lit streets, or ask your guide what's worth seeing. This kind of breathing room matters, because it's where travel stops feeling like a schedule and becomes something more natural.

    Day 8: Temple Exploration

Your guide takes you through Chiang Mai's temples, showing you which ones matter and why. The architecture here reflects centuries of different influences, layered histories visible in how each temple was built and rebuilt. The midday heat means you're back at your hotel by lunch, leaving the afternoon at leisure. If you're interested, you could arrange a cooking class with a local chef to learn techniques you can use at home, or trek into the nearby hills to visit a hill tribe village. Otherwise, simply rest – the city moves slowly enough that doing nothing feels intentional.

Day 9: Spiritual Walk to Wat Phalad

Your guide takes you on a spiritual discovery of Chiang Mai in the afternoon. You'll walk around the city's ancient crumbling walls while the sun illuminates the glittering tops of temples and pagodas. Then you climb winding stairs through the forest, passing intricate stone carvings as you move deeper into the trees, toward the hidden jungle temple of Wat Phalad. You reach the top in time to witness the sunset over the city below. The monks who live here offer a blessing, and as they begin their evening chanting, the sound carries through the valley.

Day 10 - 15
  • Koh Yao Noi

    At a Glance

Day 10-15: Tranquility at Yao Noi

From Chiang Mai fly to Phuket, and then a short drive takes you to the Ao Po Marina, before a 45-minute speedboat ride across the glittering sea of Phang Nga Bay, where you’ll find the unashamedly paradisiacal Six Senses Yao Noi. Often referred to as one of Thailand’s most beautiful areas, it's characterized by limestone cliffs and jagged rock formations protruding from the shimmering waters, along with mangrove forests and small islands. The most famous amongst these islands is Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island after its appearance in the film Man with the Golden Gun.

Located on a tiny island between the iconic limestone formations, the Six Senses Yao Noi is a private boutique resort and firm Scott Dunn favorite. We challenge you not to fall in love with the laidback and tranquil atmosphere, largely geared towards couples. The delightful villas are perched on the cliff edge in order to show off the amazing vistas and each comes with its own pool and butler, guaranteeing you maximum privacy and first-class service.

When you begin to tire of the views from your sun lounger and fancy giving your friendly barman a break, there are plenty of fun ways to pass the time. Go kayaking or take a boat tour around uninhabited islands and its pristine waters, or dive below the surface to discover a technicolored marine paradise. There are easy walks around the colorful mangroves where you might spot playful monkeys or one of the resident giant monitor lizards, who look intimidating but are completely harmless. Take a bike out to explore some of the island’s secret spots, passing local villages and grazing water buffalo, in search of a remote picnic spot. Learn to cook your favorite Thai dishes with the help of a private chef or give them full control while you enjoy the wine pairing experience.

At the end of the day it’s your vacation, so if all you want to do is relax, work on your tan and be pampered at the indulgent spa, we won’t judge you!
