Location
Ant's Nest is set in a natural rocky amphitheater in a private game reserve within the Waterberg Region of South Africa's Limpopo Province. 3.5 hours East of Madikwe and 5 hours West of the Kruger National Park.
Ant’s Nest, the sister lodge to Ant’s Hill, is the original homestead in the beautiful Waterberg Mountains, run by Ant and Tessa Baber, who have been offering relaxed and exciting riding safaris in this spectacular area for many years.
Highlights
The Nest is encircled by a curving amphitheater and enjoys beautiful views onto a waterhole in front, where a variety of game comes down to drink. The bush home is relaxed and unassuming, stylish and decorated in muted African colors. The furniture is all covered with local fabrics and the house exudes a an atmosphere of warmth and comfort. There are six luxurious en-suite bedrooms at the house and a wonderful refreshing swimming pool in the garden, which is heated all year round. The garden is a very special place to explore and boasts a “chill-out spot” – a wonderful thatched area with huge sofa beds where guests can relax during the heat of the day.
The actual house consists of a main house where the upper floor features a stunning honeymoon suite comprising a main bedroom, a separate twin bedroom, a large sitting, dining and living room and a verandah. Downstairs is another double bedroom and a twin bedroom and also a library, dining room and encircling verandah. A little further from the house are two further bedrooms.
The focus here is on exploring the area either on horseback or on foot – the surrounding area is beautiful and the horses at Ant’s Nest are responsive and perfectly suited to the terrain.
