With a private guide, you can explore Lisbon’s sites though the city’s food and drink as you wander the streets on this half-day tour. Start by boarding the Glória funicular to Bairro Alto, one of the city's most beautiful districts.
From here to the bustling Chiado, the commercial center of Lisbon and the epicenter of its social scene, with cafes, restaurants, theaters and bars. From the statue of the poet Fernando Pessoa, drinking his coffee in front of the famous A Brasileira cafe to Casa Havanesa, and Livraria Bertrand, Lisbon's oldest bookshop, this area is home to some of the city’s most distinctive haunts.
Rossio Square and Figueira Square are the places to stop for refreshment in one of their famous cafes, Café Nicola being one of the oldest and most charming. A small cup of Ginginha will revive you before continuing on to Manteigaria Silva, a delightful grocery where you can explore the salted codfish and other traditional foods. A ‘pastel de nata’, or custard tart, from Confeitaria Nacional is a must, before walking to Terreiro do Paço Square, where you can stop to enjoy the view over the Tagus River. Discover the huge variety of tinned fish at Conserveira de Lisboa before ending the day at Cervejaria Beira-Gare for a taste of the renowned Bifana - pork lightly sautéed with garlic and spices and served in a bread roll - and pastéis de bacalhau - codfish cakes. Toast the day’s discoveries with a beer or green wine.
