If you're visiting Sossusvlei, the best thing to do is avoid the summer, which is extremely hot. Therefore, the best time to visit southern Namibia is in winter (May and September) but bear in mind that the desert regions can be bitterly cold at this time of year. The climate of the southern coast is hospitable from February to May, but quite cool and misty year-round, and particularly windy in August.
Due to open March 2020, Kwessi Dunes is the brand new offering from Natural Selection located in the 200,000 hectare wilderness of the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Surrounded by incredible vistas, this camp offers an intimate and off-the-beaten-track feel.

During the day there are numerous activities on offer to explore the NamibRand, from nature drives and hiking, to quad biking and horseback riding (extra cost). Guests staying at Kwessi Dunes could also visit the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and the eerie petrified trees of deadvlei on a day trip, or glide over the desert in a hot air balloon, both of which come at an extra cost.
