Lopud in the heart of the Elaphiti islands. Constructed in 1483 as a cloistered sanctuary for quiet contemplation and healing, this medieval fortified monastery has been sensitively restored in order to retain its integrity and authentic feeling.
This villa is a mecca for anyone with a key interest in art. The Thyssen-Bornemisza family have amassed over four generations, an impressive collection that spans between the thirteenth to twenty-first centuries, and was said to be the largest collection after the Queen of England’s.
The villa itself consists of 5 rooms and suites, each with their own en-suite making it perfect for friends as well as families. Each one adorns a view either over the ocean or the perfectly manicured gardens. The rooms all uniquly designed incorporate Renaissance furniture from the collection as well as new personalized furniture designed by Italian designer Paila Lenti.
Your stay here will be handled with precision by the villa host and there are a range of nearby activities which can be arranged. Meals will be taken care of by the private chef who will cater the meals to your tastes and requirements. Meals can be enjoyed outside in several stunning areas around the property; on the terrace, a banquet in the Cloisters, cocktails on the Sunset Terrace, a barbeque with movie screening in the old fort, dine inside at the renaissance dining table in the Refectory, or try your hand at making pizzas in the Old Kitchen – there really is something for everyone and every occasion.
Although this property does not have a swimming pool, you can enjoy the villa’s sauna, massage area, multi-gym and use of the yoga instructor, not forgetting the easy stepped access to the clear blue sea with use of paddle boards and kayaks and you can paddle over to a nearby beach.
