Recently reopened in September 2019 after an extensive refurbishment, Kwara is set in a wilderness area in excess of 1,700 square kilometers and bordering the Moremi Reserve. No trip to Botswana is complete without a visit to the Delta, the watery jewel in the middle of the Kalahari Desert. Kwara encompasses a wide range of diverse habitats, ranging from the clear delta waters with reed-lined lagoons and channels, to open grasslands, mopane woodlands and palm-fringed islands.
Here you can enjoy a diverse wildlife experience all year round, but the focus is on the water, whether gliding along in the special silence of a mokoro (dugout canoe) through crystal-clear waters, or visiting the famous Godikwe Lagoon, where you can stand on a boat literally eye to eye with thousands of herons, storks and other nesting birds. As well as bird watching, fishing (both spinner and fly), walks with a guide on one of the many palm-fringed islands, and interesting night drives are also on offer.
Accommodation comprises nine canvas en-suite tents which offer incredible views over the flood plain in front of camp where the resident hippos serenade you year-round. Each tent has its own viewing deck and private en-suite facilities including hot and cold running showers, flush toilets and modern amenities. The tents are spacious and open-plan with a classic safari feel design with comfortable armchairs, a classic writing desk and wooden floors throughout. The main areas are the heart of the camp with main bar and lounge area looking out over the flood plains, a large fire pit area, perfect for sundowners and plenty of space to relax before and after game drives.
