Candles, vases and knick-knacks give the rooms a home-style feel
Stone House is a five-bedroom boutique villa designed with a stone façade set in terraced gardens and with mountain views. It is located on a hillock in Nittawala, a residential suburb of Kandy so offers a lovely peaceful setting but is also in close proximity to Kandy town, a mere 15-minute drive to the Temple of the Tooth.
The owners of Stone House have their own rice mill, and this is the design theme of the hotel. Pictures by local artists display vistas of paddy fields, and there are rice bags and ploughing equipment in frames on the walls. Antique-style furniture gives the rooms a comfortable feel and the addition of knick knacks, candles and vases help to make guests feel more like they are in a house rather than a hotel.
International cuisine is served in the dining room or in the gardens, including traditional Sri Lankan food prepared with rice from the owner’s private rice mills. If you would like to try your hand at Sri Lankan cooking, why not have a lesson with the chef who will be happy to share some tips and tricks.
A lovely infinity pool offers a peaceful place to relax, and the large garden is a nice environment for an evening stroll or refreshing beverage. Spa treatments can be arranged, and there are also mountain bikes available for exploring the city.

Why not enjoy a delicious afternoon tea in the gardens or by the pool.
