Average time to visit

Catalonia can be visited year-round. Many associate Spain with the summer sun, but August can be hot and crowded. It is certainly quieter around mid-June or September, when the weather is pleasant.

Itinerary

This enticing itinerary allows you to explore two sides of beautiful Catalonia, from the bright lights of Barcelona to the charming and historic Girona. Discover the flavors of this gastronomic region as you taste your way from city to coast.

  1. Fly to Barcelona

  2. Days 1-4: Barcelona & Catalonia

Begin your journey in Barcelona, one of Spain's most exciting and diverse cities. Art and architecture lovers will not be disappointed as Gaudí, Picasso, and Miro have all left their mark on this enchanting city. Towering Miro sculptures appear from nowhere, Gaudí's Park Güell offers respite from the summer sun and his iconic masterpiece, the Sagrada Família, is not to be missed. Lichtenstein graces the marina while Picasso has his own museum.

Spend three nights in the heart of the city with the Gothic Quarter and Barcelona’s fascinating architecture right on your doorstep.  After exploring the city and soaking up its vibrant culture, join a local chef for a cooking masterclass. You’ll have the chance to visit two of Barcelona’s most celebrated markets before learning how to create traditional Spanish and Catalan dishes. After eating your fill of paella and classic patatas bravas, it’s time to venture north to enjoy the delights of rural Catalonia.

    Accommodation: Hotel Neri (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-8: Barcelona & Catalonia

Relax and unwind for four nights at Mas de Torrent, a boutique hotel located in one of the most enchanting areas in Catalonia, boasting beautiful secluded beaches, rolling meadows and pine-clad cliffs. This 18th-century farmhouse tucked away in the Catalan hills has been lovingly converted to a charming hotel full of character, alongside its fantastic restaurant.

Located just 40 minutes from Mas de Torrent is Girona, a charming city with a wealth of Gothic architecture and a huge number of delicious dining options. Take a leisurely stroll through the old town with your private guide, visiting museums and historic buildings as you discover the hidden gems the city has to offer. Food enthusiasts will be keen to get a much sought-after table at the El Celler de Can Roca, twice ranked number one restaurant in the world, and immerse themselves in Girona’s fantastic culinary scene.

For culture lovers, nearby Figueres is the birthplace of Salvador Dalí and now boasts a museum dedicated to his artwork. Admire his masterpieces with a tour of the museum, or continue towards the coast to discover charming fishing villages such as Cadaques.

Accommodation: Mas de Torrent (4 nights)
