The fortress, once the home of the Chachapoyas, is a spectacular walled settlement made out massive limestone blocks. Climb up to the Kuelap watch-tower for a full view of the ruins. The site boasts amazing views across the valley below but it can get a bit windy due to the altitude so wrap up warm! Opt to walk up the hill to the site or take the cable car part of the way.
