Clarion Hotel Admiral

Hotel Admiral, part of the Clarion Collection, takes pride position in central Bergen overlooking the harbor and historic Bryggen, while being within walking distance to the city’s key sights.

The hotel is designed in typical Norwegian style; all of the rooms have been renovated at different stages throughout the last 3 years and have been decorated with classic Scandi design - clean lines and an uncluttered layout but less minimalist and more colorful with stylish wall papers and soft furnishings. The rooms are all good sizes, particularly for a city hotel and have either lovely harbor or city views, some with balconies. The bathrooms predominantly have showers, not baths, and are elegant and contemporary.

One of the hotel's major draws is its fabulous restaurant, Kitchen Table, which is as popular with the locals as it is with hotel guests resulting in a fun and lively atmosphere. The room is divided into two areas – the main restaurant and a bar/café towards the back. The bar/café décor is shabby chic with reclaimed wood used for tables and has a trendy warehouse feel with filament light bulbs and purposefully dimmed lighting. The main restaurant area is more contemporary and elegant; typical of a chic a la carte restaurant. It also has a decked veranda that wraps around the restaurant that makes for extremely pleasant summer mornings or evenings where you can enjoy the gorgeous scenery with your meal.

There is small gym as well as a sauna to enjoy and a viewing tower from which you can peer out over Bergen’s historic buildings, gaze to the horizon across the harbor and hear the calls from the fish market.

The hotel has a friendly and informal atmosphere; the staff are very helpful, the location is excellent and the food is fantastic. It’s a great choice for couples and older families as there are no connecting room options. Hotel Admiral, as a member of the Clarion group and as a slightly larger hotel, is perfect for those seeking a more traditional place to stay in the heart of Bergen. That said, it still manages to offer a warmth and atmosphere with fantastic Scandi décor that make it a great choice without compromising on heritage.
