Description
Dramatically set on a headland on Phuket's west coast, Amanpuri is a luxurious boutique hotel nestled in a shady coconut plantation, overlooking the dazzling turquoise waters of the Andaman Sea with a white sandy beach.
Amanpuri is well established as it was the Aman Group's first ever hotel and is now a flagship property offering a blueprint for their many idyllic hotels across the world. It has an unrivalled reputation as a luxury resort where personal service, recreational facilities and fine cuisine complement the splendour of its peaceful surroundings.
Amanpuri offers beautifully decorated Thai-style pavilions, and private pool villas for larger families and groups. Graceful in design, the elegant buildings of the resort are connected by elevated walkways which lead to the stunning crescent shaped beach and the very first Aman Spa where a range of healing therapies and traditional treatments relax and rejuvenate.
The hotel also boasts a great beach club, Eco-Beach Club with some incredible experiences for children and teenagers, grass and hard tennis courts and a private fleet of 20 cruisers and sailing boats for diving, excursions and romantic dinners at sea. Several bars and restaurants in beautiful settings and serving an array of the finest cuisine from across the globe are dotted around the resort. With so many changes to Phuket since its opening in 1988, Amanpuri has stood the test of time and in comparison, many of the newer resorts pale into insignificance.

All villas feature unique décor and layout with private dark-tile pools ranging in length from 8-20m. Each villa comes with two to six separate bedroom pavilions, as well as open-air living and dining salas. The interiors are finished with carefully selected Thai furnishings, art and antiques. The design focus is on individualism and the living space is generous – up to 115 m2, with 50 m2 bedrooms and a 65 m2 dining pavilion with sundeck. A live-in maid and cook attend to all guests’ needs, including the preparation of Thai cuisine in the private kitchen. |

The original flagship Amanpuri remains a gold standard in the Thai islands! Beautiful dark wood rooms come with their own private salas for dining and entertaining. Gorgeous views of the ocean abound, and the idyllic beach is never too crowded. Excellent dining and a world class staff add to the overall effect of true luxury. A classic that feels as vital as the day it opened!

This hotel gets booked up very fast, I can see just why. It certainly lives up to its name meaning place of peace. The Villas look out over the turquoise and blues of the Andaman sea and the beach is pristine. I can see no faults with the hotel, other than to warn families with small children that there are quite a few steps down to the beach.

As soon as you arrive at Amanpuri you are greeted with the warmth of their service which is evident until and even after you leave. Yes, the facilities and rooms are excellent and highly luxurious, but it really is the service here which makes it stand out from the crowd. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to the gardeners and to the chefs are very personable and succumb to all your needs, usually before you've realised them yourself. The chef will even come and chat to you about your meal preferences, housekeeping staff about your pillows and waiters about the different types of waters!

I am a real beach person and in my opinion, the beach at Amanpuri is one of the very best that you will find on Phuket. The sand is pure white and the turquoise water is crystal clear, it truly is paradise! The staff are so attentive, brining you thirst-quenching cocktails and tasty snacks, I could have spent days on end on that beach! For the more active there is lots to do including complimentary windsurfing and kayaking and snorkeling on the reef is a must. If a long lazy lunch is also important whilst on vacation, then chose from either the Beach Terrace for a light snack or Naoki, where Chef Naoki Okumara prepares an amazing combination of French and Japanese cuisine.
