Straddling the equator, Indonesia tends to have a fairly even climate year-round. Rather than four seasons, Indonesia has two – dry (between May to September) and wet (between October to April) – and there are no extremes of temperature between winter and summer. In most parts of Indonesia, the wet season falls between October and April and the dry season between May and September. December and January see Bali at its most humid and rain tends to come in sudden tropical downpours, but it can also rain for more prolonged periods.

When I was first looking at the photos of the resort, I thought the iconic view of the sleek wooden cabana would be tucked away in a corner of the resort, but it was one of the first things I saw when I walked into the lobby, and wow! What a beautiful first sight. In addition, each villa gets its own cabana with private pool, making you never want to leave your room! I could easily talk about the friendly service, enticing array of healthy food options, and spa products unique to Alila provided in each villa, but the view is what I will remember the most. With my limited time there, I wanted to soak in the alluring architecture mixed with the infinity pool spilling into the ocean as much as I could. It even rained during my breakfast for a brief moment which was still equally beautiful and relaxing.

From beginning to end this hotel will stun you with impressive coastal views and modern sleek interiors. Perched on the top of the cliffs the lobby opens up onto a water garden ending with an infinity pool that drops of the cliffs, giving panoramic views of the ocean. The private pool villas are chic and spacious giving you a luxurious space to relax and unwind. Enjoy the choice of two restaurants; Cire with its outstanding Indonesian cuisine and Warong for breakfast where you can choose from a range of western dishes that change daily. Before heading for breakfast why not start your day off right with complimentary yoga in the cliff top pavilion with the sound of the ocean in the background, or end your stay with a romantic candle lit dinner in one of the private cliff top pavilions.

WOW was the first thought I had when I arrived at Alila Uluwatu and WOW was the last thought I had when I left. Very few hotels have impressed me as much, from the breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean which really are unbelievable to my pool villa which was a little slice of secluded heaven. The hotel has a really relaxed atmosphere yet with enough going on that you will stay entertained if you are more active and lying for hours by the pristine pool is not your thing.

I really loved this property its extremely peaceful and the views across the ocean are breathtaking. The hotel is made up of a series of chic, luxurious villas, all of which have beautiful private pools and feature elements of traditional Balinese design. The villas have been very well thought through and include lots of charming features, including the provision of a Samsung tablet in the room for guests to use to learn about the surrounding area or connect with friends back home. The hotel has a beautiful infinity pool which offers stunning views across the horizon, and also offers complimentary bikes and yoga classes for all guests.

It is difficult to describe the tranquil paradise that is Alila Villas Uluwatu. It is an exquisite hotel with world class service, a breathtaking setting and beautifully chic and contemporary villa accommodation. It is so peaceful and cool, that you feel instantly calm and relaxed there. The enticing main swimming pool is sandwiched by two sparkling restaurants serving Indonesian and Western cuisine. Perched on a cliff top you can hear the noise of the crashing ocean below and for those more active individuals, you can even take on the 600 steps down to the beach. The way back up is a little more challenging! The villas are beautifully designed and they have thought of everything, making a stay there totally effortless.

I arrived here in the dark so the anticipation of waking up the next morning to see the renowned views was almost too much to bear! As soon as the sun rose, I opened my curtains to be greeted by wonderful views of the ocean over the cliff - stunning! A few nights spent here is the ultimate luxury, the Pool Villas are enormous with spacious bathrooms equipped with spa products and all the latest technology to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The staff here were fabulous, very warm and welcoming and the food so fresh and delicious. Perfect for a few nights stay of complete relaxation at the beginning or end of a trip to Indonesia.

From the moment you drive down the entrance to Alila and arrive at the main lobby, you know you are about to experience something incredibly special. Situated on the top off a cliff, and with unspoiled views of the coastline spanning for as far as the eyes can see, Alila Villas Uluwatu is an architectural paradise of modern design without compromising on the tropical beauty of Bali. The Eco-friendly resort, which uses old telephone posts and railway tracks in their design, is split into 2 categories of accommodation; 1 bed villas and 3 bed villas. Each villa comes with a private pool and each is equipped with everything you could possibly need during your stay, from providing an ipod of music, to every sort of lotion you could imagine, to even your own sunhat. If you can manage to tear yourself away from the tranquillity of your own villa then it is definitely worth experiencing the hotels spa or even trying out one of their cooking classes so you can impress friends and family with your Balinese cooking when home. Either way Alila Uluwatu will be an unforgettable experience.

Perched on a cliff above Uluwatu's famous surf breaks, this ultra modern and incredibly chic property has all the mod cons. The property is incredibly contemporary and leaves no stone unturned with regards to ensuring your perfect stay. I loved being able to completely pull back the floor to ceiling windows, making my villa completely open air to my private pool and bale. Dining was also sublime, the wonderful chef came to meet me and concocted the most amazing Balinese fusion dish of spicy prawns just for me. The service here was discreet and thoroughly attentive and whilst it may not be in the heart of a buzzing town, the very fact that it is so secluded leaves you feeling pampered, rested and utterly spoiled by the delightful staff.
