Visit Lake Atitlan between December and April for hot and dry weather. The rainy season brings tropical afternoon showers between the months of May to November. Hurricane season is from August to September and although the coastal regions are affected more so than the highlands, the lake can experience floods, landslides and a rise in water level.

Accommodating three room types, the rooms are ideal for entertaining both families and couples. If the evening is chilly and you wish to eat inside, the dining is communal and makes for great story-telling with other guests of the day's adventures.
During your stay at La Casa del Mundo, you can delve into the local heritage and discover the lake's charms. Spend a day out on the lake visiting different mayan villages and learning their culture, climb one of the volcanoes with a guide or head out by yourself in a kayak. Spanish classes can also be arranged on site, and if you wish to go into town for a spot of shopping, you can arrange this in the morning directly with the hotel.
