Brimming with neoclassical style, elegance, and a touch of French decadence, Le Grand has been a landmark hotel in Bordeaux since the 1920s. Initially designed by Victor Louis, a respected Parisian architect, as a private mansion in 1789, today the hotel’s luxe baroque interiors honor the building’s heritage. Glittering chandeliers, beautiful floor marquetry, gleaming mahogany furniture, sumptuous silk fabrics, and opulent marble surfaces, combine with modern comforts to create a sophisticated and elegant base in Bordeaux. The service is faultless, and the concierge service deals expertly and efficiently with all requests.
Le Grand has a total of 130 rooms and suites, all individually styled to reflect the charm, elegance, and Belle Epoque grandeur of the rest of the hotel. Climate control, Wi-Fi, high-tech Samsung television system, minibar, and marble ensuite bathroom with heated floor and robes come as standard. Entry level Classic Rooms are cozy or for more space trade up to a Premium Room with the added option to choose a view of the Opera House, either with or without a balcony. We recommend the Premium Rooms with Balcony, which enjoy fabulous views across the heart of the Gironde capital and famous Opera House. To experience more of the Belle Epoque lifestyle, Le Grand’s suite accommodation beautifully showcases the opulence and luxury of the era. Junior Suites feature a large living area and the choice of an Opera House view. For a separate bedroom, book a One Bedroom Suite (ideal for family stays) or a Wine Bar Suite, featuring a living room with a private wine bar. Alternatively, the Prestige Suites offer fabulous city views, while the exclusive Royal Suite includes a separate living room, bedroom, impressive bathroom, and private entrance.
The hotel is a destination dining venue. Le Pressoir d’Argent Gordon Ramsey boasts two Michelin stars and the celebrity chef has used the region’s spectacular produce to create an exciting and authentic menu. Guests can savor local black truffles, foie gras and exceptional lobster à la presse, served in the stylish dining room for a truly unforgettable dining experience. The hotel’s second restaurant, Le Bordeaux has more of a brasserie feel and serves accomplished modern European fare created from the excellent regional cuisine. For drinks with a view, head up to the Rooftop Bar, offering 360° panoramic views of the city, while the delightfully styled L’Orangerie on the ground floor has a cozy and intimate ambience in which to enjoy drinks and snacks. Do spend some time in the luxurious Guerlain Spa. A superb place to relax, there is an extraordinary relaxation pool lined with red and gilt columns, sauna, hammam, tearoom, and well-equipped fitness area, as well as the opportunity to book beauty and wellness treatments.
