Courchevel offers a great balance of high and medium altitude and predominantly north-facing slopes to offer excellent skiing throughout the winter. In December, huge capacity for artificial snowmaking and the connection to the Val Thorens valley make good skiing probable. Courchevel really comes into its own from January to March, typically seeing regular snowfalls. When it gets really cold, runs to the lower villages are bearable and come spring time, north-facing pitches hold up well.

Courchevel has a reputation as a place for rock stars and royalty but make no mistake, it is one of the world’s premier ski resorts with good reason. The skiing has breadth and depth that is unequalled. The extent of the Three Valleys combined with perfectly groomed runs, vertiginous off-piste couloirs, gentle runs at village level and much admired tree skiing mean Courchevel has lots for skiers of all standards.
If skiing is just a sideshow for you, the boutiques and art galleries will keep you occupied until it is lunchtime at one of Courchevel’s many fine restaurants. Most renowned eateries including Cap Horn, Chalet de Pierres, Bel Air and Soucoupe are accessible by road or by gondola.
Apart from skiing, the village has plenty to offer. The toboggan run to 1550 is another favorite. There is a farmers’ market on Wednesdays and the Forum is home to an Olympic ice rink, bowling alley, climbing wall and small gym. Paragliding, horse drawn carriage rides, forest walks, show-shoeing, cross-country skiing, ice karting and hot-air balloon rides are also possible.
Courchevel hosts special events including the International Pyrotechnic Festival, the most impressive fireworks display you will ever see, and ski-jumping competitions at the Olympic ski jump in Le Praz.

I really enjoyed my time at the Hotel Des 3 Vallees. Its a fantastic property and in a great location thats really convenient in Courchevel 1850. Its a short walk from the center of town and ski school meeting points (couple of minutes) whilst also being ski in ski out too just off a blue run!
The hotel always offer bed and breakfast basis but I would definitely recommend their restaurant for at least a couple of evenings during the week. The focus of the restaurant is on local produce and they offer delicious French food for example, Monsieur Michaud's soup, croque-monsieur with air-dried beef, Rodolphe Paquin's country terrine, Savoy-style hotpot, cheeses from La Cave d'Affinage de Savoie and Tart of the Day. Exactly what I love after a day on the mountains!
For the evenings you do dine out, the 3 Vallees offer complimentary shuttle from 09:00 to 22:00 every day so its no hassle to get around the resort. My favorite part of the hotel is the living room. Its a fantastic place to relax in the evenings with a drink and boardgame after skiing. In the morning over breakfast the giant ski map is fun to study and plan your route for the day. Its interactive so you can see which lifts are open and closed which I thought was rather fun! I think its a really good value property for its location, facilities and service in such a central location in Courchevel. It would be great for a really hassle free vacation in Courchevel 1850 for a family, group of friends or even a couple too.
As one of the largest aquatic centers in the Alps, Aquamotion offers swimming with flumes, indoor surfing, inflatables and a climbing wall as well as a fitness gym, spa and fitness classes such as yoga.
Après ski with a difference. If there's still some energy to burn off at the end of the day, the climbing wall at Courchevel 1850 is an entertaining option.
Drive a piste basher
A mountain experience that is quite possibly every child's (and adult's) dream when they see these being driven up and down the pistes.
Skiing The Three Valleys
Being part of the three valleys means Courchevel has access to a vast area of pistes for your enjoyment, 600km of them to be exact.
Snowshoeing in Courchevel
Leave all the hustle and bustle of the slopes and the lift queues behind as you discover the tranquil, natural surroundings of the mountains on snowshoes. Using a private guide, discover the best snowshoe walks and access places skiers can't get to.
Once night has fallen and the skiers have deserted the slopes, you can still enjoy the thrill of shooting down a mountain with the wind in your face – on a sledge!
