Our Guide to Lapland
Most of Lapland is in Scandinavia, occupying a third of Finland and Norway and covering the northern reaches of Sweden, even parts of Russia. It’s synonymous with snow blanketed landscapes waiting to be explored by husky or reindeer drawn sled and delivers year round beauty and unique experiences.

Europe’s last wilderness is best visited in December to April for an unforgettable festive experience and the chance to glimpse the Northern Lights and meet Santa himself in Finnish Lapland. However, if you prefer longer days and midnight sun over a long lasting winter, April is considered the best time for sledding and skiing, and August is ideal for hiking trails with fewer visitors and warmer temperatures.
Whichever country you visit you'll be met with incredible nature and wilderness, trekking routes and remarkable experiences, from downhill and cross country skiing to reindeer rendezvous and meetings with the indigenous Sami people. Swedish Lapland provides sweeping pine forests, peaceful lakeside villages and is ideal for an off the beaten track journey and a heli-skiing adventure across stunning mountains, empty slopes and untouched snow. Norwegian Lapland or Finnmark is home to the towns of Alta and Kirkenes each with their own annually constructed Snow Hotel and is one of the best places to see the Aurora Borealis.
Most visitors to Lapland are likely arrival by plane via city airports such as Helsinki or Stockholm. It's a popular option to combine Lapland with some time in one of Scandinavia’s exquisite cities such as Helsinki but our specialists can craft your perfect Lapland trip based on your specific interests.

"The Lapland trip was fantastic and a huge success enjoyed by all. The Santa Claus experience was unbelievable and so exclusive. The kids thought it absolutely wonderful and the whole time we were at the reindeer farm we did not see another visitor so we were made to feel very special. Picking up a hitch-hiking elf on the way there was a wonderful and very unexpected touch. The adults really enjoyed the husky sled rides (especially the fact that we could drive them ourselves) and the snowmobiling. The two chalets together sharing a chef worked well and we were very well kitted out with warm clothing by Luxury Action and their guide was excellent. Having our own small bus and driver for the whole time we were there helped to make everything so easy and comfortable for us. So all-in-all a 5 star trip and to be highly recommended."
