The stunning Capella Shanghai is perfectly situated in the district of Xuhui where you can explore some of the last remaining traditional Shikumen townhouses. These were home to the middle-upper classes and expatriates during the 1930s.
The hotel provides a range of 55 one, two and three bedroom villas which through their blend of French and Chinese interiors gives you the impression of staying in a Shikumen home. The rooms give a grandeur feel with their high ceilings and impressively large marble bathrooms.
After exploring the local area guests can retreat to the award winning Auriga spa which boasts seven treatment suites and a range treatments that incorporates traditional techniques leaving you relaxed and ready for the next day of exploring.
Alongside the award winning spa is the Michelin star French restaurant, Le Comptoir de Pierre Gagnaire. Head chef is superstar chef Pierre Gagnaires who has created a menu that focuses on quality, local ingredients and the reinterpretation of traditional French cooking. The French theme continues throughout the day where La Boulangerie tempts you with the smell of freshly made pain au chocolats and a heavenly afternoon tea. For something more relaxed you can stay in your villa and have the fine dining brought to you.
