Santiago is a year-round destination but the most pleasant months to visit are October to April. Although summer (November to April) is hot, breezes disperse the smog that shrouds the city for most of the year and there is lots of sunshine. Over winter (June to September) you’ll see the Andes wreathed in snow and can ski nearby, but the weather is chilly and rain can be an issue. Spring-like September is Chile's national independence month, and is full of activity.

The courtyard garden and swimming pool area at Lastarria is just lovely. The lush, green wild garden creates a lovely, zen atmosphere making you feel like you're a million miles from the hustle and bussle of the city, a real oasis of tranquility. The high walls keep it feeling very private, and being opposite the parque forestal and located on a small street keeps the noise levels down. The outdoor terrace overlooks the pool and is a perfect spot to enjoy a coffee or a glass on wine on a hot summers day, the terraces stay nice and cool as it's in the shade most of the day, as is the pool.

Lastarria Boutique Hotel has lovely rooms overlooking their hidden garden. Art Deco in style it is beautifully appointed and even Deluxe rooms are spacious with King Size beds, modern bathrooms and good storage. There is a small reception and charming breakfast/dining room which served complimentary tea each day with cakes and local specialties. Limited dinner menu but a perfect spot to while away a few days in peace and quiet with excellent service including a small spa area where you can book a massage after a long flight!

Lastarria has become Santiago's go-to hip neighborhood with its villagey atmosphere, street market and historic buildings which are slowly being converted into one-off restaurants, galleries. museums and boutique hotels. The Lastarria Boutique hotel is situated on a quiet street opposite the Parque Florestal (one of the city's best green spaces). The original characteristics of mansion which dates from 1927 have been kept and sit alongside contemporary vintage-style decor, modern art and a cosy Deli lounge offering breakfast light lunch and afternoon tea. The small outdoor courtyard swimming pool is a great place to chill in warmer summer months. The pretty guest rooms and suites vary in size, some are cosy but have the benefit of an outdoor terrace.
