Designated a National Geographic Lodge of the World, Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge has been given the seal of approval from experienced explorers. Located in the heart of Canada's Manitoba province and on the edge of the Hudson Bay, Nanuk offers wildlife viewing experiences in a truly remote wilderness. Untouched by mass tourism and commercial development, this is Polar Bear land, and the lodge has been perfectly placed to enjoy their habitat. In fact, there is not other human presence within 100 miles of the lodge.
With just eight guestrooms, the lodge retains an intimate feel, and guests are encouraged to interact and share stories at the end of their day around the dinner table. There is also a cozy lounge with a crackling fireplace which allows you to completely unwind and relax after a day of adventure in the great outdoors. With large panel windows overlooking the coastal landscape, you can even continue your wildlife viewing from the comfort of the lodge as you read a book by the fire or simply relax with a cup of hot cocoa.
During your time at Nanuk, you will head out on fascinating daily treks in search of the Polar Bear but you may also encounter moose, wolf and even black bears. Your knowledgeable and expert guide will teach you all about these incredible animals along the way and give you plenty of time for observation and photo opportunities. The treks will also be supplemented with multi-passenger ATV tours that will take you further afield to discover different landscapes and encounter different wildlife. It's not just on land that these creatures roam, but look overhead for a glimpse of the birdlife.
In the evenings, there is a wonderful team of dedicated kitchen staff who whip up delicious dishes each night using the freshest ingredients and seasonal produce. Tell tales with your fellow guests before retreating to your en-suite guestroom for the night; heated and stocked with modern amenities, this is your own personal sanctuary in the heart of the wilderness.
