Best time to Visit

Good time to visit

Average time to visit

This is a wonderful year-round itinerary. October through to April is considered the best time to visit for those seeking warmer temperatures. January and February is peak summer and the milder 'winter' months are from June to September. If traveling over Christmas, New Year or Carnival, be sure to book as far in advance as possible, as space at this time is severely restricted and hotels have minimum night stays.

Itinerary

A great value vacation or honeymoon combining the vibrant and contrasting rhythms of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, the thundering Iguazu Falls and the laid back beaches of Florianopolis. This is a fantastic introduction to the wonders of South America.

  1. Fly to Buenos Aires

  2. Days 1-4: Buenos Aires

Your journey begins in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s seductive and cosmopolitan capital famous for its French classical architecture, grand avenues, world-class steak restaurants, trendy boutiques and fiery tango dancing. We can tailor the most memorable experiences – tickets to a tango show or perhaps a lesson or two, guided cycling tours stopping off at the city’s cultural landmarks, wine tasting, a visit to an estancia in the Pampas or bohemian San Telmo’s Sunday market. A city tour and tango show have been included.

    Accommodation: Legado Mitico (3 nights)

  3. Days 4-6: Iguassu

After soaking up all Buenos Aires has to offer, continue north to the breathtaking Iguazu Falls. Here cascades of tremendous force give rise to a magical mist which hovers above the tropical forest, home to rare flora and fauna. Stay at the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas, a luxurious base from which to explore both the Brazilian and Argentine side of the falls and boasting an enviable location within the National Park. If you don’t mind getting wet, enjoy an adrenaline fuelled speed boat ride to the base of the falls!

Accommodation: Belmond Hotel das Cataratas (2 nights)

  4. Days 6-9: Rio de Janeiro

Your adventure continues to the vibrant oceanfront city of Rio de Janeiro, known for its highly spirited lifestyle and stunning location on a spectacular bay fringed by miles of golden sands. From your hotel in Copacabana it's easy to explore the highlights of Rio; there is so much to see and do in this magical city, from exploring the artistic neighborhood of Santa Teresa, home to Portuguese colonial architecture, visiting one of the largest football stadiums in the world at Maracana, taking a thrilling helicopter ride, standing side by side the statue of Christ the Redeemer on Corcovado, venturing to the mountain resort of Petropolis and taking a cable car up Sugar Loaf Mountain. We can give you all the top tips to make your stay here so special, from restaurant reservations and recommending live music events to arranging the best guides in town. A full day city tour has been included to take in the key sights, including Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Accommodation: Hotel Emiliano Rio de Janeiro (3 nights)

  5. Days 9-13: Florianopolis

What better way to finish your adventure than with four nights at one of Brazil’s most exclusive beach hideaways? Fly to Florianopolis, where you’ll be met and transferred to the spellbinding Ponta dos Ganchos. Tucked away on a forested peninsula with views of the emerald ocean and its own sandy cove on which to unwind, you’ve arrived in paradise, Latino-style. Lean into the sumptuous luxury of your private villa, marvel at the sea views from your deck and make a splash in your very own plunge pool. We wouldn’t blame you if you scarcely left the villa for four days! That said, we don’t think you’ll be able to resist the sea. Swim, snorkel or dive to your heart’s content. Borrow a kayak and paddle over to a nearby island for a picnic lunch, or head out on a sunset boat trip along with freshly shucked oysters and a glass of fizz. The seafood here is as fresh as it comes and the team of chefs will rustle up masterpieces for you in the most relaxed settings. If you have any space left after the ten-course breakfast tasting menu, you’ll want to tuck into some freshly caught shrimps barbecued on the beach!

Accommodation: Ponta dos Ganchos (4 nights)
