At Footsteps camp emphasis is upon guided walks led by expert guides. The camp is based in the Shinde private concession at the end of a lagoon, shaded by African ebony and mangosteen trees.
Hippos are always wallowing in the lagoon, grunting and carrying on, adding to the African atmosphere. Depending on the weather conditions and how much rain has fallen, you may be able to ride a dug-out canoe (makoro) through the various water channels through the papyrus and water lilies. Lions, wild dogs, tsessebe, zebra, impala and kudu are often spotted in the area. Fishing is also an option when there is higher water levels.
The three meru style tents are en suite with their own bucket shower, porcelain flush loo and a daily laundry service is provided by the housekeeper. The delectable bush cuisine, fresh fruit and vegetables, wines and cheeses all sourced locally makes for lovely meals served at the boma while you relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. Enjoy a drink while you share campfire stories and listen to the sounds of the night.
