Average time to visit

The ski season in the United States is longer than that in Europe. Most resorts open sometime in November, with Thanksgiving (the fourth Thursday in that month) being a common opening time, and stay open until mid to late April. The exceptionally high altitude means December through to February can be extremely cold, with temperatures sometimes reaching as low as -12C, although the skiing conditions remain very good. Warmer temperatures in the Spring mean more variable skiing conditions and softer, forgiving snow.

Families sharing a suite should be aware that there is no separation between the sleeping areas so this hotel is perhaps better suited to families with older children looking to eat together and then go to bed at a similar time.

Hotel Park City is a charming and exceptionally welcoming ski hotel in one of North America's finest ski resorts. Close to the slopes and the attractions of Park City, it offers families a typical American welcome and great cuisine.

Consistently rated as one of the best ski hotels by Condé Nast Traveler, the Hotel Park City has a great slope side location and is close to all the resort's facilities. Not quite ski in/ski out, it is ideal for cross country skiing, and families where one or two members prefer not to ski every day. We were bowled over by the service here - guests are greeted with a genuine warm welcome and staff get to know your name immediately.

Hotel Park City has 100 suites, with a mix of hotel accommodation and cottage style living, giving families and groups more flexibility. The property has a couple of fantastic restaurants and many people visit just for this alone. Ruth’s Chris Steak House has a gourmet menu of prime steaks, seafood and New Orleans-inspired appetizers. The catch of the day should definitely be tried. Bandannas Bar & Grill serves an American breakfast and then American favorites for lunch. The luxurious Spa and Health Club has a variety of therapeutic massages and Thai inspired treatments. It's a small and intimate Spa, but the service is still fantastic. The outdoor heated pool is enormous and is a hub for après ski.

Hotel Park City is a very good 4* but because it is great value you won't end up with a huge bill before or at the end of your stay. This makes this an ideal choice for families along with the great outdoor pool and excellent sized rooms.

The town of Park City is nestled high in the Wasatch Mountains and boasts some of the best snow in North America. It offers a fantastic range of recreation, as well as sophisticated dining and nightlife, all within a short drive from Salt Lake City International Airport. It was the epicenter of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games and offers exceptional skiing for intermediates and experts. Wide slopes are great for children and beginners, with very professional ski schools offering great tuition. With nearly 400 pistes, it's difficult to imagine there's more to do in Park City than world-class skiing or snowboarding, however, if you're a thrill-seeker, you should visit the Olympic park and try the Olympic Bobsled run. The park also houses a fantastic museum which is worth a visit. An extensive choice of shops, bars and galleries can be found on Main Street Park City, an historical landmark which you can explore by trolley tram.

Babysitting can be arranged on request with the hotel using bonded babysitters. There are also children's menus and we can put cots and bedding in the rooms.

The hotel's signature restaurant, Ruth's Chris Steak House is the number 1 rated Ruth's Chris Steak House in the western United States thanks to its vast range of prime US steaks and New Orleans inspired appetizers. Our recommendation however is the specialty seafood - the catch of the day is normally the best one to go for.

There is a small Thai spa at the hotel which is very authentic and offers a great range of treatments. We would advise booking treatments in advance as it does get busy. There is also a steam room, sauna, heated outdoor pool and a health club.

With an average annual snowfall of 365 inches of Utah's famous dry powder, the skiing at Park City is cleverly color-coded into seven Mountainzones and this is clearly illustrated on the trail map. Each mountainzone features different types of terrain so that skiers of nearly all abilities can benefit from the incredible skiing available.

Learn to fly on the Flying Eagle, a zip line which starts and ends in the same place. Alternatively, try tubing at Gorgoza Park with its seven tubing lanes and let the kids loose on the Mini Snowmobile track or at Fort Frosty play area.

Charlotte Austin (Staff)

This is the perfect hotel for those guests who want to stay in Park City looking for a level of luxury. This is the best hotel in Park City by far and it also offers the flexibility of allowing guests to cook for themselves in their own kitchens. The service here is second to none, the bellboys instantly know your name and can recommend many different activities for you as well as the staff in the restaurant being very personable.
