Best time to Visit
Good time to visit
Average time to visit
Offering warm temperatures throughout the year the Caribbean is a perfect year round destination. With an average of 9 hours sunshine a day the peak season runs from December through to April which is the dry season when you can expect very little rainfall. May to November are the slightly wetter months where you will find an increase in rainfall as the summer season goes on and with that some humidity, however the Summer months are still a great time to travel as the temperatures are hot and the rain tends to come in short heavy bursts but not all day long. The wettest months with the most humidity are September and October and these are the most probable months for hurricanes to occur in the region although many islands have not experienced hurricanes for a number of years. The average daily temperatures range from the mid-seventies in the winter months and mid-eighties in the summertime.

Description
Ladera is a small and intimate eco hotel which takes full advantage of its natural surroundings. An open wall in each suite offers spectacular views of the St Lucian rainforest, the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea, making you feel at one with nature.
Ladera was once part of Rabot Estate, one of Soufrière's oldest and most famous cocoa plantations. It is now a unique eco-lux hotel in a dramatic location overlooking the Pitons and Caribbean Sea.
The hotel has 37 suites and villas perched on the cliff top with an open wall revealing panoramic views of the rainforest and Pitons. The suites are all constructed of tropical hardwood, stone and tile, furnished with traditional handcrafted wooden furniture and decorated with local artwork, giving a quirky and unique feel to the rooms. Both the suites and the villas have an open air living area and either a plunge pool or private swimming pool.
The poolside restaurant has an equally spectacular view and a delicious menu offering imaginative interpretations of local specialties. The Spa at Ladera features indulgent treatments inspired by St. Lucia's volcanic history and the lush rainforest that surrounds this peaceful retreat.
There is a shuttle service to nearby beaches and there are several interesting and adventurous activities in the surrounding rainforest including hiking up the infamous Pitons and horse riding. there are also a range of island tours available and you can go whale watching to catch glimpses of sperm whales and short finned pilot humpbacks.

Another hotel which is all about the views, with the fourth wall missing as well. All the rooms have their own plunge pools but something to bear in mind is that if you are sun worshippers let your travel consultant know so we can request a room which has more sunshine during the day!
The hotel makes all its furniture on site and it is stunning, with beautiful carvings.
Food at Dasheen is amazing - using locally sourced ingredients.
Guests who want to enjoy the beach can take the shuttle down to Viceroy Sugar Beach.

This is my personal favorite place in St Lucia, I loved the concept of the missing 4th wall, although its not for everyone, its quirky and great for those wanting to get a real sense of St Lucia. The views are stunning and I love the rooms that incorporate local handicraft and support the local community. The food at Dasheen was excellent, local and tasty but to polished standards and all served by a team who clearly love what they do and are proud to show guests a little of the real St Lucia. If I had my honeymoon again , Id choose here although lets hope that doesnt happen!

Ladera is a sweet little hotel in St Lucia with just 32 rooms. They are very lucky with their situation with amazing views of the Pitons. Everything seems to be made from wood and it has a very quirky feel, the rooms have 3 walls so you are at one with nature. I found their little swings over the pools very sweet to swing on with your feet in the pool being mesmerized by the piton mountain views or perhaps to read a book and really feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of life in your own quiet little room and open alfresco area. There are no televisions or radios in the rooms so you can completely escape! This hotel is only for children over 15 years of age as the rooms are so open plan.
They have a 3 Tier Restaurant and Bar You are welcome to request the best table in the house, just ask the management in advance! Their restaurant Dasheene is famous in St Lucia, so many guests travel to try their food; this is of a very high quality with very friendly service, you will see why it is so popular.

Ladera has one of the most beautiful views on St Lucia. Perched on the hillside overlooking Sugar Beach and the Pitons, it will take your breath away. - It is a small property with only 37 rooms. The accommodation is built without a fourth wall so that you get a spectacular view from your room. The type of guest to stay here are the active type and will go out and about in the day. If you fancy a change of scenery it is situated opposite Hotel Chocolat where you can take dinner.

Arriving in Ladera is very low key, a small open air reception surrounded by a little man made stream with colorful fish tiled bottom. This place is simply charming yet the wow factor is still to come. Walking into the main part of the hotel, the whole of one side of the guest lounge is missing, opening up into the most spectacular views of the Piton Mountains. It simply takes your breath away and I can't be the only one that feels that way as all the comfy chairs are pointed in the direction of this view, I can imagine it's the most amazing place for chilled out sundowners.
Lunch here was sublime, the restaurant offers fantastic fare and is popular throughout the island. Guests at the hotel get priority though and it's an experience not to be missed.
Heading toward the guest rooms, this is certainly a unique way to stay. One whole side of all the suites are open to the view with a plunge pool and sofas of your own to admire it at your leisure. The rooms themselves are a little bit rustic and also rather dark, but comfortable with ample mosquito nets around the four poster beds just in case the little critters are around at night. With an open sided suite, this can happen.
Ladera is not on the beach, however there is a shuttle bus that heads down several times a day, it takes around 15 minutes.
This is a wonderfully relaxed hotel, small and intimate with fine food and a romantic atmosphere (you can even get married up on the terrace overlooking that view) and I would recommend it as an ideal first choice in a two center stay in St Lucia. Have a few days here before heading down to a beach hotel, a great way to get to know this beautiful island.
